So I was wondering about updating the phone's software. On my A-900 there is just an option in the settings to update the phones software. I was wondering where, if any, and how to update the phone software. I know about the windows update, but is there something besides that? I have also just read a lot about updates coming up in Q1 2008 and was just wondering about how that will go about. Just if it is a manual or automatic thing. And i guess kinda related to that, how to update roaming settings. When I had Verizon a while ago it was just a number to call, but I don't know how to on Sprint. I have the Sprint Touch by the way. Thanks.

1. only windows update but they never have any updates through that they are all manual.
2. Q1 3008 will be rev a rom which will fix some problems and also enable gps and give faster web speeds.
3. its manual update you have to flash the rom to your phone.... just follow the steps that it guides you through and you will be fine... it will be posted here when it is released.
4. roaming setting that i know of cant be updated through the phone itself you would have to go to the sprint store and have them do it if its even possible at this point... sprint is way different than verizon bro so get the verizon out of your head and you will be fine lol.

HAHA, well thanks for the quick response. So I guess I'll just look around here for that update. I hope I remember to keep checking.

So actually that leads me to another related question. Have there been any previous updates and where can I get them? Is there a place on the Sprint website to get them?

there is no rom updates just an spritn email, sprint tv and a instant messenger update at this point which are posted in red in the touch forum of the help desk as sprint official updates. the phone is still very new and updates take a lil time

Well I hate to be a bother, but I looked all over for that thread and searched for it and couldn't find it anywhere. Could you post a link to it?

Thanks, it just wasn't coming up when I searched for "sprint official updates" And I was looking all over in the touch forum. Even after you sent me the link it wasn't coming up in search until i searched "sprint touch update." Thank again though. Maybe theres just something wrong with my search settings.

Just so you know, not that it matters now....but those "software" updates that are over the air on your A-900's, Katanas, Sanyo's etc., only update the Preferred Roaming Locator list. The PRL list just adds new towers so your phone doesnt roam as much. Roaming costs Sprint (or any carrier) money, so they want their customers to do it as little as possible. Basically, OTA "software" updates mean little as far as your phones actual software.

Dash is right in that updating the ROM is more important, like how Mogul users have a "newer" update available at HTC.com. The Touch does not have one yet.

The only thing available that Ive seen is a camera patch for your memory card.
