400mhz is the processor that is with the phone. you will notice a difference in speed right away becomes much more responsice on big tasks like opening the windows folder and all. and you can just reopen the overclocker again and make sure it is still there and if it is you are golden

there has to be a program that reads current clock speed. The reason why i was curious to the speed was in windows mobile 5 on the old t-mobile MDA, when its overclocked it would show the change in speed in settings where its says clock speed. Im sure the same was true with the apache and any other windows mobile 5 devices when its overclocked. Also another note is that in settings/device info/hardware all the info changes when you apply changes such as ram, sd card, os memory and so on.

just a different program some do more than just overclock and give you those options some dont and this one happens to not.

I had gotten confused because it wasn't installed in the 'programs' section. To get it, I went Start>Settings, and then in the Settings is the Performance option. Hope that helps.

Hello all, I"m not sure if this is still a problem for anybody but I discovered that if you don't have the "performace" icon under start>settings>system after installing the program....you need to reboot your unit, the icon should then appear. That worked for me anyway.

man this file had nothing to do with your issue..If it did you had to have done something very wrong on the install...What he meant was sometimes when upgrading roms..like to the wm6.1 the phone looses it settings...so you call to activate it...as in reenter your msl to obtain access to your mdn and msid.....just like when you first activated it right out the box new...Theres no way this app did what you describe...

what i would do is do a hard reset and insta one by one and when it does it for the first time you knw the culprit. and also beware when doing a hard reset be sure to back up all importnant data because a hard reset does return yur phoneback to factory settings like it came out of the box new.

Ok

Here is a way to test if it is faster

Open the Windows in the Device

When the processing color wheel start spinning look what color it starts at and watch how many times it goes around before that file folder opens

This folder is one of the largest folder and the processor has to work for this to open

Then turn the Overclocker off and then count the whell when you open it again

I've been using this with no problems, but a friend asked me a question about it, that kind of stumped me in terms of that I didn't know for sure, just assumed.

When you check the Dynamic option, this allows for the faster processing, yes?

If you uncheck it, (the radio button, for instance, is still on 624), does that mean that once unchecked it goes back to 400? Or does it stay at 624? Furthermore checking dynamic, allows for it to change between the two when nec, much like a regular computer?

I hope these questions makes sense, I can reword it if nec.

I thought that, if you uncheck it, it goes back to 400, but if you check it, it goes to whichever you specified.

I didn't notice any difference then I learned about how the processor works on my touch so I gave up looking for an overclocking app/tool.

HTC performance only works on xscales... it wont work on the dual core stuff found in these qualicom devices. because there is (at this date) absolutely no way to overclock the 400mhz core (dedicated for the UI) without screwing up the 133 core dedicated for the radio (or "the phone") hopefully those wizcode geeks are going to figure this out for their next release of pocket hack master but I'm getting more and more skeptical the more I look into it.

For everyone having problems installing this app on the touch try this....

1. With active sync drag file onto storage file
2. Launch the HTC performance.cab file
3. Install app on device not storage card
4. Go to settings/system/performance and change to 520 or 624mhz

I did these steps and it works perfect on my Telus HTC Touch

runs awesome for me seems like you have prolly been doing a lot of installing and uninstalling applications on your device. i would recommend hard resetting to get back to normal and than you will see the true overclocking speeds which are amazing. my windows folder takes just over 1 second to open with 30 apps installed. to sync your contacts you can use activesync and outlook express or sign up ofr amail2web account set it up and than it will sync your contacts for you. than when you set the mail2web account back up after hard reset you will see an options at the end of set-up with what you want to sync, than choose contacts and you ill be golden. heres a tutorial on how to set this up. https://www.wckediden.com/showthread.php?t=24681&highlight=free+direct+push+email

I know for me that after a soft reboot fixed that issue. For the future you might want to make sure and reboot your phone after each install and uninstall. That usually solves any issues. I hope this helps:)

I tried opening the windows folder through file explorer and it took like 2 min. and 15 sec. I think with or without this program checked at 625 or whatever it is? Do I have a problem? Other things seem to run OK? I mean it's not real slow? If I do a hard reset will my contacts sync back to the phone?
What do you do to take 2min+?

I didn't notice any difference then I learned about how the processor works on my touch so I gave up looking for an overclocking app/tool.
HTC performance only works on xscales... it wont work on the dual core stuff found in these qualicom devices. because there is (at this date) absolutely no way to overclock the 400mhz core (dedicated for the UI) without screwing up the 133 core dedicated for the radio (or "the phone") hopefully those wizcode geeks are going to figure this out for their next release of pocket hack master but I'm getting more and more skeptical the more I look into it.
You can oc your ti omap to like 3something but it will get weird on you.
If you have seen "faster" speeds I apologize for killing your placebo effect.
Yes placebo effect.

Chris
Only one turn on all case for me.

OK, I did some serious testing with htc Performance on my HTC Touch CDMA (Telus):
0) No apps running in background.
1) Opening the Windows folder: 3 seconds on 400, 520 and 624mhz, not a good test, too short, not the same on different devices.
2) Opening a 2.6mb zipped file in memory: 19s on 400, 520 and 624mhz
3) Run all benchmark of GAPI Benchmak, see attached: same results on 400 and 520mhz but 5% slower on 624mhz.

So my conclusion is: This app is not working on HTC Touch CDMA. My readings also gets me to the comment of fuzzydeer.

it auto shuts down when the phone is idle and doing nothing to save the battery power and i havent noticced any difference in battery life with using this forbout the past month or so.

Great to hear this ..
all i know is i see a visual improvement.Phone is more responsive.

I agree

its way faster visually even. i ran a lil test and took it off and tried to open the windows folder. it took just over 5 seconds to open without and just under 2 with it so there is a big differenceand i tried this multiple times so it wasnt a one time fluke.

funny windows folder opens up fast for me lol seconds with or without the cpu oc'ed ..

Im not saying this app doesnt work it just doesnt work with the qualicom processors. People should also keep in mind that many tweaks are made to the registry either manully or by other performance applications that will make the phone run way faster (take your glyph cache and allow for 4 or 8 times more and turn off the clicking for srolling and you have some super fast and smooth scrolling of icons) Many of these tweaks are made by the user of there newly installed programs at near the same time that they instal htc performance. this is likley where you extra speed is coming from.

I can concur that the app works for SURE!!!!. Once application is overclocked to 520 or 640 or whatever the numbers are you will see a significant difference immediatley in proccessing speed. To prove it, uninstall the application and go to the file explorer and seehow long it takes to open the windows folder on your device. Then install the app...overclock to whatever you want to, soft reset and access the windows folder directory and you will see the difference in speed. PROOF!!!

I'm still on the fence as to whether it works or not.

As for the windows test.. I have stock rom, show all files turned on and \Windows still opens within 5-10secs tops.. with htc perf off and on

<hmm> will try again as I didn't soft reset after changing clock speed, and I may have been testing with resco explorer.

So check it right, I have a battery question. And yes I've read through the whole entire thread.

I've been testing this for about a week now and it seems like my battery dies a lot quicker under heavier use. Basically I know that it is like a smart clocker and powers it down when idling and stuff like that but will it kill the battery faster when the phone is under constant use?

Like doing the same exact activity over the same exact time with the different clocking speeds you will see absolutely no battery difference?

i dont have any problems with the battery dieing faster under heavy use with it being overclocked. are you making sure that you close all programs through a task manager??? are you locking the phone before you shut the screen off???

no thats just taking the battery out. a hard is returning the phone back to factory settings all the way so it looks just as it did when you took it out of the box..... you do that by pressing the two soft keys and than soft resetting at the same time.

it will not change the NUMBERS physically. Secondly, Uncheck the performance and check the windows folder. the icon will spin more then 5 times. The htc performance is designed to FOOL THE CPU and run at 624MHZ, not physically change the numbers. You will not see 624 anywhere but in the app itself! Yes performance app does work and does make a difference!

It simply doesn't work.. all the top dogs of this site say it does but it simply doesn't work on the qualcomm processor. Benchmark tools and even tcpmp's benchmarker show no difference - it might be 'fooling the os or whateva but if there is no discernable speed increase it ain't working. The watch the windows color wheel is not a test (and doesn't make any diff)

I've been running this since late January and its always worked flawlessly. It does make a difference. Opening the windows folder isn't the only way to check if it has increased or not, that's probably not even a good way to check at all. The CPU is not always the bottleneck in performance. Run an actual CPU performance benchmark; Sktools has one built in. I have mine set to run at 520mhz and everytime I run a test it says im running equivalent to 524mhz and I can tell.

mmm .. that is weird.. d/\sh felt it was the sprint rom not making it work .. .i guess u ran it at one time ... u def aint using sprint rom anymore with this banging ROM that u made that i am hearing about

u noticed a change with the windows folder mentioned in the thread ..?
if u read above.. this cab doesnt change the amount of time my wait cursor spins when i open the windows folder .... dont understand why though... i tried both speeds

like getting a BJ withount cumming ... useless ...its on the device but just aint working ... uselessgrrr

to be honest, the windows folder wouldnt make much of a difference i feel on this device. on the mogul yes, but not the touch, the real test is to run a 3d (lots of memory) game. I would try that. HTC performance is not a necessity any more (thats my opinion) on the touch.

You always should soft rest after loading a new app or modding your appearance of your phone. Most time it needs it to take affect on the phone.......

ok i was just wondering cause theres a note on in the program that says "Overclocking to 624Mhz may cause random lockups,"Whitescreen" issue,a damage to the device with a warranty loss"

but you say you dont have ne problems n i know dash already previously said he runs at 624Mhz and if he said nothings happen his word is golden so screw it,plus i work for alltel and i know how they are with the warrantys they just give it so i guess ill risk it lol

Hi and first I want to thank you for this app! I read the entire thread before installing. I have tried both the 520 & 624 settings and each are very slow when attempting to view flies in the Windows folder. I did a soft reset & appears the program did nothing. I have a HTC Touch (Qualcomm 7500) with 400 Mhz speed. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

--------- New Post Merged on 8/10/2008 at 06:04:04 --------

Well I guess my Qualcomm processor is the problem. It apparently locked my iContacts whereas I could not make a call from just touching the number in the directory. Removed the program and everything is back to normal. I wish I had the same positive experience as many of you did. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hey Kaos or D/\sh, I was wondering if this would work on the diamond/touch pro or if it tweaks something specific to the touch/mogul...I still have this cab on my storage card from my mogul but I want to make sure its not gonna make my touch pro explode before i test it.

I agree with this.

D/\SH
03-19-2009, 12:44 PM

well your on the touch hd and not the 6800 or lower so it wont work...... also with you being gsm this wont work for you.... thats why you dont see the difference so you cant agree with the above statement that you quoted.... pays to read through the threads young grasshopper.

sorry to burst your bubble dude but this won't work for the touch pro, only for older models like the mogul or the touch....the best way to speed up your touch pro is to flash a custom rom....ATR is the shit and will make your touch pro fly like a jet

hi...i found your application about increasing HTC touch fantastic. But when i install the cab file i can't find the program. i don't have in my HTC touch the system>settings>performance, so i can;t configure the application. I need your help

I was having the same problem, I found the file in the windows directory, it's just labeled performance.

I just downloaded this and I can say I see a huge difference in the performance of my phone....Thanks!!

if the hhuge difference your seeing is in your touch pro? then its probably jut a placebo effect... not to burst your bubble, but this app is fairly old, and doesnt work on the newer devices processors and if i recall correctly, there isnt a way yet to overclock the processeor in these devices... but now need... all you really have to do to iprove speed and performance is dedicate more ram (should have a plentiful amount on touch pro) to those process using Adv conf tool or something...

theres a tutorial here on doing that... let me know if you need help finding it!
