Guys, I just bought a PPC6800 off eBay, the guy said it was a clear esn and only 2 months old. I get the phone and it looks great but when I call Alltel to activate it I find he still has an outstanding balance on the phone and they won't activate the esn until he clears up the bill. Am I screwed or is there some way I can get around this. I did a search on here and I didn't see anything relating to this, so I started this post. Any help would be greatly appreciated folks and thanks in advance.
Well you could go through ebay.Explain what happened and demand a refund....paypal protection should cover it....Also you maybe able to unlock it and go through sprint with it...

Thanks KAOS, I left the seller a voice mail and waiting for his response back. I would consider Sprint but their coverage sucks where I live which is in the NW corner of Iowa and I am tied in to a 2 yr contract with Alltel I am unable to figure out how to get out of without paying a $ 200 early termination fee

if you have a existing phone with them.....use the phone number from that....all you need for the new one is the mrl.....look under ppc6800 section in stickys..there is a program on how to obtain those...

I have a Blackberry Pearl right now activated under my number and i want to deactivate the Pearl and activate the HTC, so you're saying I may be able to do that if I look up mrl and that might show me how to do it?

No no what he is saying is that if you get the msl 'master subsidy lock code' then you might be able to just put your mdn 'phone number', and msid 'Mobile Subscriber Identification' into the programming of the ppc6800 and use it on your account, rather then your pearl...
and an easy way to get that lock code is to use the program listed in the 'sticky thread' thats under the ppc6800 section...
Lemme know if that helps you any?
***UPDATE***
But also, this goes for anyone else that might be reading this and is thinking about buying off of EBAY, make sure that you get the esn from the seller, and check with the mobile company before purchasing the phone!! Cause just think, if there weren't resources like this web-site then you would have been ripped off!!

in the 6800 area of the help desk you will see how to change the esn and all and you could take the esn off of your current alltel phone and add it/change it to your mogul.

Dash, I searched and found ESN change method for the Touch but not the Mogul. What should I type in search to find it for the Mogul? I'm sorry for acting stupid, but I have no clue how to get this phone active. I found the phones mobile number and MSID number.
