Ok, first off I want to say GREAT site. I have been looking around for two days and can't get enough.. I have some questions i think you phone pros can help me with.

First a qualifier.. I have been modding Motorola's for a couple years Razrs, 710's and E815's mostly but I have dabbled in others. I have done seem edits and played in the file systems and never bricked a phone yet.

I want to move into a smart phone now. I have been doing a lot of research and think the Touch is the phone for me.. Why?? Mostly the size. I work in a shop that does not allow cell phones but we all carry them in our pockets anyway, and I think the Touch fits the bill as far as being able to conceal it in my pocket. Which brings me to my first concern.

How durable is the Touch? The shop I work in is a welding shop so we have grinding dust metal shavings/flakes and just a general dirty environment. Will this phone hold up?

Next question? How good is the phone reception? I live in a rural area (Alltel is my provider) Often I am only working with one or two Bars of service with my Razr. I read TONS about the Touches features but almost nothing is mentioned about the phone service itself. ( I hope that is because it is a non-issue)

Next, are all Smartphone mods carrier specific? Most of the posts I see here are for Sprint phones. As I am with Alltel and will have a branded phone can I use mods written for a Sprint phone?

I have lots more questions but I think I have wasted enough of your time for now. Thank you for taking your time to help out another NooB! (God it sucks being a NooB again..........)

lol word i do lots of welding when i repair cars but to the questions.

1. the touch is a very durable phone and since your working in a shop like that where you are going to have a lot of metal shaving fly everywhere make sure you place a quality screen protector on the phone.
2. my buddy has one through alltel and the service and signal is better than on my moms 100 2 year agreement special lol. she get 2 bars in a given spot and he will get 3 to 4 bars. the reason for this is te built in antenna is a high quality one.
3. all the mods will work on yours th ereason for the sprint overdose is because sprint was the first one to release the phone.
4. any further questions feel free to ask bro.

I am having a good time so far.

I loaded the touchpal key pad, and the slide 2 unlock, Didn't like the S2u so I deleted it's ass LOL

now I am working on the sprite backup and trying to figure out if I want Win 6.1 on my Alltel phone??? :music2:
