ok its as simple as the title says i read in another thread that doing this will brick my phone and i should not do that. but im wondering why is this?
can someone please explain to me why if i decide to go from my sprint rom when i first got it to a gps rom back to the rom i had when i first got it will brick my phone?
I guess what im saying is i dont understand why that will happen if you have the correct radios and roms and it being either locked or unlocked would brick it.
because maybe i wont like the new rom i flash to and wanna go back to the old one i have but cant since my phone will brick.
different spl's... software incompatibility from non gps rom spl's to new gps spl. Its not backward compatible.

possible to make that into "lame mans" terms ??
and so i assume that is the same for the mogul i cant go back to the stock rom that came with my phone when i bought it last august?

I was wondering this too because I wanna flash to a custom ROM like I always did on my Mogul and I want GPS.. But if I cant flash back to stock then wtf? lol

According to PPC geeks - they reckon that the Radio1(nongps) and Radio3(gps) are written in different parts of the phone and that when you revert back to Radio1 you don't completely remove Radio3 which could cause you problems.:Flush:

So basically if I want GPS im stuck with it? So if I have a problem with my phone Sprint wont take it back and I wont be able to use my TEP because I have a custom ROM? this is very depressing lol. Is that true though?

well if this is true than how would we go about removing the radio 3 if we seriously really wanna go back to our stock rom that doest have gps

lol ya thats how it seems that once you flash to a rom with gps you are stuck with it which does suck. but if i was you and i did flash to an custom rom and i had to return my phone i would flash it to another gps rom that sprint did supportand released there self. they cant say anything if they put it out as an update you know. if you dont wanna go through all that than i would flash to an stock rom that sprint supports so if you have to return it you can with no hassle and worry about having to flash it again

Yeah well at the moment sprint hasnt released any GPS ROM's for the Touch.. Which really sucks cuz I love the Touch but I need GPS and I thought that I could do it with a custom ROM and not worry.. Guess not..
So your saying there are ROM's that Sprint is supporting that are GPS?

for the mogul there is roms that sprnt supported and released.
for the touch i believe there is some they support but there not the final version only bet versions. but still its from sprint i believe.
i ended up biting the bullet and installing an gps rom on my touch.

Hmm thats true! That would mean I have to pay the $50.00 fee but oh well i suppose.. Sooner or later Sprint has to release a GPS ROM for the Touch because there are leaked ones... I suppose we shall see

no there would be no 50 dollar fee just tell tjhem since you have insurance that the phone did this when you woke up and there is no way to get it off..... they arent going to know what happens.

I've done it twice with two different phones successfully. With no side effects at all. I realize I was taking a chance but I had some issues to where i needed to go all the way back to the original. I guess i was just lucky.

Ford told me to change my oil every 3 thousand miles too. But with the newer engines, that's not necessary. check out the following link. it gives specific instructions on exactly how to do what you "can't" do. like i said, i may have been just lucky the two times i did it. but it did work for me. flawlessly i might add.
