I had this problem before with the stock rom, but it went away when I put the new one on it. Not it's back!

When I open up the camera the left side of the screen(about a half inch width wise) will be either blacked out or display whatever was on the previous screen. Also none of the touch screen functions work in the camera mode.

Is there another program I can try to see if its just the program? Because nothing else on the phone has problems, and this doesn't warrant me going through all the trouble of reflashing the rom, losing all the stuff on my phone, and sending it back, so I'd much rather just find a fix.

well this is what i would do to trouble shoot the issue. If it was indeed the ROM, did the camera work fine after the flash or a hard reset? If the camera did indeed work affter the flash to the NEW ROM then you have a app conflicting with the camera when its displayed. If the camera never worked on the NEW ROM after flash or hard reset, then the ROM is NO BUENO! What ROM are you on?? Just curious

The camera never worked on the stock rom. It worked after I put Kaos rom on it, but just last night it stopped working again.

It never worked on the stock ROM??? Thats weird.... sounds like a hardware issue... get your phone swaped out!

i would say the same... most likely what it is is the black base that connects to the board prolly had some solders break lose and thats causing the lens to shift and catch pieces around the camera hole on the back of your phone.

The only thing that confuses me is why none of the touch screen functions work when the camera is up. If I touch it, the little menu pops up, but if I hit anything it just goes away. But if I use the D-Pad I can go through the options.

Yah I got insurance, but asurion wasn't even supposed to send me this phone to begin with so I'm afraid that if I call to have this one replaced they'll give me a centro haha

I didn't even think of bringing it into a store, actually. It'd probably be for the best if I flashed a stock rom first though, wouldn't it?

Yes that would be best because a guy from sprint said that there goin to stop replacing phones from damage done to custom roms.
