Ok here is the story, I have my Touch through Alltel but where I live I have to roam on Verizon towers. My internet is terribly slow on my phone and on my Alltel um150 internet modem card. My question is there any way to speed things up. Maybe trick/hack the system in some way so it uses the EVDO net instead of the 1x.
Today was weird my phone was on the EVDO network for a few hours with no signal lines. This has never happened here before. Its always stayed on the 1x network. TIA

Well the only time I cant get EVDO is while I am at home and using the Verizon tower/network. I guess Verizon just wont let Alltel roam w/EVDO. Thats what I was wondering if there was something I could do to my phone to trick Verizon into thinking its one of their own and let me connect with EVDO speeds:) Yeah I am reaching ROFL...

Hey njkid, there actually is a way to force into evdo.
Go into your registry and Go to \\\registry\HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\
Change the value of 'HiddenModeOperationPage' from 1 to 0. Save, soft reset. On your phone go to settings->phone->Services-> and mode of operation should appear in the list now! and you can change back to 1x whenever you want. only you can't make or recieve calls or texts so after your done surfing the web, you'll need to change back to recieve awaiting texts and so forth... Hope i could help!

Thanks for the reply. But, unfortunately since I am an Alltel customer roaming on Verizon I cant get EVDO. Damn stingy Verizon wont share lol... I have to wait till January when the final merger between Alltel and Verizon go through.
