I have a 2 week old Alltel Touch Pro that I'm having problems with arbitrarily changing the time on me. I am in Central Standard Time (Louisiana); however, my phone periodically (about every other day or two) changes my time zone to Mountain Standard Time. Hence, my clock is quite often rolled back an hour. I change it back, but it somehow switches back after a few days.
Currently, I am running an Alltel stock rom. In addition to the above, I have PocketShield 2.1.0.0 installed that I can't seem to update its clock. Even though I change the time on my phone and it sticks, PocketShield's clock stays an hour behind (like the Mountain time).
Anyone have any ideas where the bug is and how to fix it? I have uninstalled and reinstalled PocketShield, to no avail. I also installed Spb Time in hopes of it helping to get the clock to stick but again to no avail.
Thanks...Dennis

Well It sounds like when u set your phone up when u first activated it, the time zone was set wrong by mistake to mountain tim instaed of central time. The htc wm device's use active sync, to sync up your phones time automatically over the air (OTA)... Two suggestions
(1) if you are willing to, hard reset you phone and and set the time zone info correctly from there, (this should also straiten out any other issues that this problem may be occuring from) or
(2) if your against hard resetting your phone, go into "start menu>settings>phone>service(tab)... from there youll see a scroll down list with a "time synchronization" option... click that and cut it off (By unchecking) the "time synchronize with mobile network automatically" option. Then set you phone time however you like it, and it shouldnt change anymore...
Note* the location i posted to find your time synchronization might be someplace else in your phone, as thats where its located on my touch, and you have the touch pro...
Hope this helps, let us know

I did a hard reset and made sure I selected Central US Time when it first popped up during the setup; however, it failed to hold Central US time after the restart. For some reason, it rolled back to Mountain US Time, so I manually changed it back to Central US Time. I then updated my phone's roaming service through Alltel by dialing *228. After which, it restarted and again rolled back to Mountain US time. I again manually corrected my time & zone to Central US time and the proper hour. Just for giggles, I restarted (soft reset) my phone to see what would happen. My time was correct, but when I opened the time window, I noticed that it had switched to Mountain US time AGAIN! So during the next time sync, it would have rolled my time back an hour to Mountain US time. Arrggghhhh! What the hell???
I then corrected everything and tried a manual time sync through Settings ---> Phone ---> Services ---> Time Synchronization ---> Get Settings... ---> Update Now. That is when it apparently changed my timezone from Central US to Mountain US.
To temporarily solve the problem, I disabled "Time synchronize with mobile network automatically" in Settings ---> Phone ---> Services ---> Time Synchronization ---> Get Settings.
Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this glitch? I didn't have this problem with my HTC PPC6800 (Mogul) which I was able to swap out for a HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks...Dennis

No clue what might be causing the problem, especially if hard reset didnt correct it.. glad my suggestion helped you fixed the problem tho...
to figure what else it might be, we need more info, like what kinda rom are you running, did it work on stock, if you are on stock it may be a defect with the hardware.... chances are you may have gotten a referbushed/reconditioned model... at this point it too hard to tell w/o further details...

I'm using a Stock Alltel rom with a brand new HTC Touch Pro. I need to do some more reading and possibly look into switching over to Big Jew's rom. I'm just not familiar what extra things I may have to do since mine is Alltel. Everyone seems to setup their roms for At&t or Sprint with some slight differences for Alltel (CDMA)... at least that's what I've somewhat picked up in my readings on AMJ & PPCGeeks.

Nope, I'm in Louisiana. Looking at a time zone map, the closest Mountain time zone states are New Mexico and Colorado. The closest Eastern time zone states are Georgia & Florida.
