Ok, so I've been digging around ont his for a while now, but I'm pretty stuck. I originally tried to activate the phone using the automatic system, but it didn't work, so I went the manual route.

As of right now, I can make and receive calls, send texts, but data has only worked once or twice. Usually I get an error when it dials #777, or if I try the udpate profile I get either Error Code 407 or 1012. I haven't called Sprint yet, figuring that's usually an exercise in futility, so thought I'd check here first.

Anyone got any ideas on some things I can check?

Sorry, Kaos' rom. I've reflashed a couple times (with the usual battery pull and all that jazz), and I'm in the process of putting the mdl data back in (even though they were both set to my phone number already) to see if that forces it to reset and maybe re-provision.

did you activate it after you flashed kaos rom?? if so, then maybe the data settings arent properly introduced

its recommended to flash to stock again, let the customizations run so all the carrier info is loaded including data settings, make sure it works, and then flash to kaos rom

or you can try installing dcd's carrier cab to see if that fixed the data for you

lol. I must not be as dumb as I look. :) I had an epiphany this morning and just finished doing precisely that before checking back in here. Looks like that was indeed my problem. The Update Profile option took, so I'm gonna poke around for a while and make sure everything's good before I go back. Thanks!

Edit: Poked around a bit, and the only thing I see at the moment is I seem to be stuck in 1x for data rather than EVDO. When it boots the icon shows EV, but as soon as a data connection is established (which seems pretty slow too), it drops down to 1x.

So I'm still stuck at 1x data rates. I finally broke down and tried to call Sprint this morning, and as I feared, was probably an exercise in futility. They had me restor the ##data# settings, then run the update profile and told me to wait an hour and everything should be fine. Unfortunately, I tried that at least once or twice last night.

I'm gonna give it that long and test, but I'm not hopeful. I still see the EV icon until it attempts a data connection. After that (and after a rather long pause), it eventually drops to the 1x icon and at least data starts working at that point, but obviously painfully slow.

Since I'm assuming the same thing I tried last night isn't going to work today, does anyone have any other tips, or things I can check?

This is a gratuitous attempt at bumping this thread since the last post was automerged even though it was a day apart (not sure if that's by design).

In either case, as expected, I'm still at ground zero, EV icon shows, but once data connects - which takes a longer than normal time - it falls back to 1x. Speed tests confirm it is definately not high speed.

Not sure if there's anything else in the phone I can check, or if there's a magic word I can tell Sprint to get them looking in the right place.

Well, I now have a ticket open with the Sprint tier 2 (I'm assuming) guys. They called and left a voicemail today that it could still be tower troubles. I would have thought that an awful big coincidence until they mentioned that the report showed the problem starting on the 28th, which is the day I got the phone. I still have my doubts, but have no choice to wait until they say that's resolved.
