Where some people love to play with different hardware and different programs/applications, I love to play with different operating systems (precisely the reason I have 5 operating systems spread out across a PC and a Laptop), so I was wondering, is it possible to dual-boot operating systems on a phone?
I'm mainly asking this because I've decided I'm almost definitely going to get a T-Mobile G1/HTC Dream soon, and I love the idea of such an open platform, and I've been playing with the Android Emulator for a bit the past few days and find the UI very easy to get around, but I still do love Windows Mobile, and I know people are working on porting WinMo 6.1 to the G1, so if it did happen, would I be able to dual-boot Android and WinMo?
P.S. It's probably a nooby question I know, but hey, that's what the Noob Area is for, right? ;)

well the great thing about wimo phones is that dual-boot isnt necessary to get multiple interfaces. I do not know for a fact that u can, i assume u cant dul-boot for the main issue would be not enough program memory and ram size....u can use the android interface with tf3d. u can pretty much use any standalone interface within another UI. There are a ton of posts and threads here explainin this very question....dual booting is going to be a little different when it comes with wimo phones because i dont believe the internal memory is partitioned. Check out the different interface that wimo offers and you definetly can mix match em to make it your own.

Well when I had the touch, WM 6.1 I used to run the android port for it, through haret (linux platform?) and that was cool.... but it wasnt so much of a dual boot as you had to launch android from the storgae card after being in winMo, and once android was launched there was no way to get back to winMo w/out a soft reset... Not sure how the winmo port will work on the android phones, but I dont believe there is actual way/method to truely dual boot a phone yet (yet being the operative word)
But like Talor said, dual boot isnt really necesarry to get multiple os's and UI running on your device... you just gotta do your research...

Ok, I'll see if I can find an Android port for the Tilt, and hopefully a WinMo port for the G1 will be released soon then, because I quite like the idea of launching it from the storage card, so I'll see how I would go about doing that then...
Anyway, tyvm crazaytalent and TaylorWckediden for your help ;).

Good luck on your endeavor bro. In the meantime, gonna mark this thread as solved.

as of right now we cant find a way to stabily partition the hard drive and allow enough for each os to have enouigh to run off of and have enough to insall apps also.... just not enoughj space or fast enough processor to do so yet......... so until the specs become better on the devices we wont see dual boot..... but in the near future i would keep an eye out for it with all the advancements they are making in the mobile industry and the way that they are constructed and built :>
