Hey guys, ive decided that Im gonna flash my Touch, i wanna load one of the roms u have here... but i have some questions i need to solve before....

1) Im from venezuela and Ive noticed that in most of your tuts on how to flash u deal with YOUR carriers, like sprint or altell, etc... Can I flash any of your ROMS to my touch, no matter the carrier? My carrier here is Movistar FYI... oh and its GSM, maybe that will affect to...

2) When Im gonna back all my info up b/f flashing... any software will save ALL my info?? Cuz i just spent a whole afternoon configuring my Ultimate Launcher and it would be like a kick in the nuts to lose it =)

3) My phone is already unlocked, i was brought from the US, and it was unlocked (somehow) to make it work with our carriers, like Movistar and Digitel... I bought it from a friend, and I dont know the original carrier, I asked my friend and he didnt know either... sooo should I be concerned about that??

4) Would u be annoyed if I came here while Im flashing to clear any doubts during the process (u can say 'yes', really its ok.. thats why u make tuts)

well, i cant think of anything else right now... Im gonna go to bed, sleep on the idea of flashing and lets see if ur answers help me get through this flashing thingy...

PD: I hate beeing such a noob, but its my first PPC and I want to be sure before trying anything!=)

1. Nah... most of the roms here are cdma, your gonna wanna go to xda-developers dot com... and check out the gsm roms and then come back here for the rest of your ppc needs

2. u an use sprite back up or pim back up but it wonk back up us specific user setting for like UL.. u'll have to do that stuff over manually... thats the case whenever u flash or hard reset...u can look into a app like sashimi or learning how to set up user customization... a bit more complicated but u can back up more stuff... but ull still have to set up something lik UL on your own

3. If you know for a fact that its a gsm (it has a slot for sim cards etc) then, the carrier brand shouldnt really matter, as long as you have your carrier info to set up your setting again so you can get phone and data back functional

4. no, wouldnt be annoyed, just ask in the appropriate area's like the flashing tutorial, or the thread of whatever rom your flashing...

#1 isnt really a bad thing they have plenty of gsm roms over on that site, Just like crazay said if the phone is already working on your carrier now then u shouldnt have to worry bout the carrier info unless some features dont work.. like with mine i had to setup my internet and mms because my carrier doesnt support my touch pro... they was just able to add it to there system with just talk and sms. but if its working fine right now i think one of the backup programs will backup your info and it will be set in there automatically(not to sure tho). Having a phone on a carrier its not suppose to be on can either be a easy task or a hard task i was lucky enough that the settings and all the stuff i needed to do to my phone to get it fully working was on a couple of forums. So just read as much as you can on stuff thats the best way to learn and figure out things.

yep Like Eklipz said...if its already set up on your phone, and ur device and active and fully functional, you should be fine, still its goof to know your carrier setting, b/c occasionally(rarly if ever), something can happen during a flash that you may have to go back and set up ur phone again... I dodnt know what your carrier setting would be, as your on GSM network overseas, and Im more familiar with cdma networks, and also I dont know what ur carrier is... you can search fo a dcd carrier cab for your networwork, but Im not sure if those are only for in state carrier or if he's has other... and to get your settings and such... all you have to do is call your carrier, if your really desperate, and they can tell you, and walk you through setting up your device, the way they did when you first activated it...

Nah, i doubt those leeches would give me the settings, i bet they would just say... come to a center near your home and we will configure your phone again... for a small price ... xD Besides, the phone is from the US, I have no Idea how it was configured, cuz i bought it from a guy over an internet site like ebay called Mercadolibre, FreeMarket or something like that xD...

Soo.. All i have to do is, find a GSM ROM that i like... find a software to create a backup of my phone... try to find the settings for my carrier just in case and say good bye to my ultimate launcher (T_T)

Confirm my final answers and feel free to lock the thread... i remember when I used to be a mod at a gaming forum.. my line was "Problem Solved, Topic CLOSED"... Ahh good times...

Thx for everything.... I'll come and bugg u with more questions some other time ^_^

yessir my friend, that's pretty much it in a nutshell....with the exception of saying bye to ultimate launcher... id say see yah later... and just reinstall after your done flashing... after the first time u set up UL, it gets easier to do, so next time it should take as long... but thats just me...
anywayz, glad we could address your issues... Ill leave this thread open for now, in case you have any other problems or concerns, during or imediatly after the flashin process (unless admin or someone decides to close it for another reason)... keep us posted as to how it works out...

I don't think you will need to know any of your carrier settings because, since you are on a gsm network all your carrier settings are in your sim card...and since your phone is unlocked that means it can run on any network with the proper sim card...so thats one less thing to worry about

Thats a good idea, we'll leave the thread open until he gets it, so we dont have multiple threads. Just got to make sure he posts back here when he gets it so we can close it.
