View Full Version : HTs Custom PCs
Hey guys,
This section of the forum seems pretty dry so I'll put something up in here. If this is a problem, let me know and just delete the thread...
Well, my name is Hunter Rigsby. I have been into PCs for a while and I've gotten into building custom PCs locally over the past few years...
If anyone would like a custom PC built for them, please contact me via PM or email (hunterrigsby@yahoo.com). I guarantee quality work. I'll post up pics of my custom PC.
I can generate any amount of performance for a fraction of the cost of box store prefabricated models. Not to mention I can provide a sweet look to a PC.
Basically, I can make any PC to fit any needs.
Here is how the "business" works. I get in touch with you and we decide what you want and what type of PC will suite your needs (looks, performance, budget, etc.). Then you order the parts online, and ship them to me. I then build the PC and ship it to you. I add 10% to the cost of the parts for a build fee (other custom options available, such as a custom paint job on the PC case, custom side panel windows, etc, ask for more info). I will tape the entire build process and post it up on youtube to show you exactly what went into the build so you can appreciate your PC more and, if need be, know more about it internally.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to let loose. I am looking to expand my business because this is something I enjoy. I guarantee quality work for a fraction of the price of PC companies. Don't let the money factor scare you away. I can build budget PCs in the $500-$600 dollar range or I can build Gaming Rigs up into the thousands. Anything is possible.
Here are some pictures of my work. This is my personal PC. If you would like specs on it, please let me know.

i like your setup there i build computers myself when i have some free time.My first is my server.I'm curious what cooling system you used for the cpu.I'm facing heating problem on mines and i have the standard cooling fan.I want to upgrade that.
I have the Thermalright IFX-14. I had the stock cooler when I first built my PC. I too ran into heating issues with my Q9450 so I quickly upgraded. My IFX-14 is lapped since the base does not come flat. Problem here comes from the heat pipes. The contact surface is flat when they make it but then when they solder in the heat pipes the base gets warped. Lapping it is a time consuming process where you rub the heatsink on sandpaper until it is flat...
Takes a while to do and it's not the most fun but it is effective. The base is flat and the heat removal is insane. I have a Scythe Ultra-Kaze 3,000 RPM fan in the middle of the CPU towers and a Thermaltake blue LED fan intaking air on the right side of the cooler.
If you give me your PC specs and let me know what you're willing to spend I can help you out better on deciding on an aftermarket HSF.
This video shows my original setup and then my upgrades...
This one is a slideshow but it shows the lapping process the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JCRQpw6EgE
Here are some overview videos of my PC:

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkaSSz-0yr0
I hope this helps a little. Just let me know your specs and budget and I can help you better.
Look forward to hearing from you,
HT

yo that's a awesome setup. But your specs is for gaming.which i believe will be the same for a server. Before i do any modifications i would have to upgrade the mother board to dual core and then i will invest in a cooling fan.
At this time i have the Asus mother board "P5gd1" with intel 4 3.20ghz and 3 gig of ram. 3 sata hardrive one 500,160,250 gigs
As anybody know running a server the software is a killer. What i mean is Apache server with php and mysql which they are resource hogs.I have benchmarked it so far out. That a friend of mines optimized the server program for me \.Oh by the way i have windows server 2003 thanks to dashy..(hahahah) so you see what I'm facing, and the Only solutions is to go dual core.
All that i would have to look at when i come back form my vacation...maybe i can hit you up about that cooling fan or supply me some links to where you bought it from
thanks
Yeah. You could also look at a quad core. I don't know much about servers but I do know that quad cores are ideal for spreading out the load. I regular PCs, quad cores are used to speed up programs while multitasking while dual cores are to run specific programs faster like games.
Thermalright is probably the leader in heatsinks. The Thermalright Ultra 120 is probably considered the king of the heatsinks. There are also many other options depending on budget and space limitations. What kind of case are you using?
I'd love to help though. Once you get back we can look into it more. There are tons of options on this one...

yea i thought about the quad core myself but its pricey..and my budget is limited...i have my server specs in the Wckediden news section with the images of my server its there some where, it been a while. But i will look into that heat sink deal.

Nice rig! I have a Thermaltake case myself the Armor+Mx. Good Work on the cable management, that beast looks like it has some sick airflow :)
On a side note- I use a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 for my heatsink and its on par with the Thermalright ultra. If your looking for a great budget heatsink elboriyorker thats the one for you.

thanks bro i'll be looking into that
Yeah I tested it out and the inside of my PC is colder than the rest of the room.
When I first did the cable management it wasn't pretty so when I did my upgrades I made sure that it was my number one priority. A little planning goes a long way, along with a dremel and some electrical tape...
Thanks for the compliments.
There are so many heatsink options out there it's insane. I would rely mostly on the reviews of others. With the insane number of choices it is really hard to decide. I picked mine because I got good reviews on it and it looks sweet (IMO). The only bad thing I heard about it was the concave base so I fixed that and moved on. Tough decision to make initially but after that it's simple...

I'll try to get some pictures soon :) but your setup wins hands down :D I kinda regret getting the Armor+Mx and wished I could have gotten just the big bother Armor+ instead, would have given me much more room to work with.

its a sweet setup only issue i saw was how freaking loud your fans are and the number of fans... have you looked into a water cooling system? it might work better. my comp right now has 2 fans and it keeps it about same temperature as the room so heating is not an issue for me.
if i were to buy a comp from you what kind of specs could you get me on a tower build (no monitor) thats around 600-1000 dollars?
also elboriyorker atm the only TRUE quadcore chip is the intel i7 which runs like 600 dollars by itself lolz...
Thats cool. I wasn't trying to start a competition or anything. I just like to see other peoples rigs. I think it's cool to see what other people have done...

I'll get back to you on this. Are you including the OS in the budget or no?

oh i wasn't tryn to rip on your computer i was just saying your fans sound like there really loud :P.
but no dont need os installed on it. is usually change out my os to test out different ones monthly :P not to mention now days the os is one of the most expensive components...
Yeah they are really loud. It's actually only one fan that is loud. It's the Scythe Ultra-Kaze 3,000 RPM Fan. It keeps everything ultra cool but it is loud. It I turn it down to 2,000 RPMs it is not very loud at all and it keeps things cool as well. Usually, I keep it at 2,000 RPMs but if I am doing something that is rough on the PC I run it at 3,000...
So, monkey, what will you be doing with your PC (gaming, multitasking, etc.)? Once I get this info, I'll be able to build you a better PC. How much space do you need (hard drive wise)? What type of look are you going for (professional, flashy, bold, etc.)? Do you want a window in your case or not? Do you want cold cathode lighting?
I know it's a lot of questions but I just need to get a feel for what you want before I can start looking at components.
Thanks for your time,
HT

the pc would have to be for both gaming and multitasking. as i do a lot of gaming and a ton of image editing and what not. as for the harddrive i would like maybe a minimum of ide say 640 gb so i have room to run partitions for multiple operating systems. and a sexy case would be ideal ^_^ not too picky when it comes to looks.
Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation...
I'll look into this and give you some specs in the next day or two.
