I have flashed a few roms with windows mobile 6.5, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me why they like it. I am not a big fan of the new start menu and I don't use the WM 6.5 today screen because I like TF3D2 Better. I noticed a lot of the new roms coming out have WM 6.5 and I am wondering what the big deal is.
Thanks

because thats where the market is heading, it has more than a start menu and titanium..
it has enhanced scrolling, skinnable scrollbars menus etc. new PIE8, MSN widgets which are like small full screen web apps, myphone and the M$ app store will be supported fully in 6.5 among more goodies
in laymans terms now that 6.5 will be officially released soon there will be no more 6.1 unless people want to stay in the stone age,so you can stick with your setup if its the way you like it already or look out for a TF3D-2 / 6.5 rom so you have your interface which covers the today screen and start menu that you dont like and still have the new OS with all the future support

Well I don't want to stay in the stone age, lol. I like trying new roms so I guess I will just have to keep trying them till I find one I like. I really think it is just the start menu that I don't like and i am sure there is a way to change it to the 6.1 version.

you can use quick menu for a grid start menu like before, but doesnt tf3d-2 replace the start menu already?? one way or another you wont have the 6.5 menu if you run touchflo2 so you are good
i believe ATR is gonna release a 6.5 rom with tf3d-2 so look out for that, ther are a few to choose from

Yea TF3D-2 does have its own version of the start menu but I like the standard start menu. So I think the quick menu might work out. I will give WM 6.5 another chance tonight, lol.

I didn't like the new start menu at first but once i got used to it, I will never go back...and basically the reason why I like 6.5 so much better than 6.1 is that the finger scrolling is way better, the menus are more finger friendly while still retaining the windows mobile look, I love how the new .tsk files skin pretty much everything in the interface, and I really like the new cHome plugin (its almost the same as my Zune) and I'm looking forward to seeing the customizations that people will come out with.

LMAO... that man is passionate about the future of mobile tech...lol... fierce in his accurate assesment... but sheesh... It was like smacking ur younger sibling across head... and yellin at them to wake the F*ck up....lol!

Yeah i hear you... truthfully i think its just a fact of life that people dont always like change, especially when it good as it, and youe got things just as you like... but my friend world changes and times move forward... many initially were like you... I thought 6.5 was pointless and just a face lift... but after using it I just cant go back to 6.1, scroll is beatiful, seemless, love the new menus...much better and eye friendly than the htc notifications from tf3d or rhodium IMO... and even if you dont like the interface (which personally i do, i grows on you when given a decent chance... especially w/ all the new tab additions being developed and themse and skins coming out) there more than enough new and advance features under the hood, thats worth making the switch on it own... so give it a shot...and welcome to the future...lol!

damn was i that bad?? LMAO that was my way to explain what you just did (sorta) its normal for people to resist upgrading when they feel comfortable with what they have, but its called upgrade for a reason otherwise there will still be cooking WM5 roms today lol. but its their device and they can run whatever they want, i just dont want them to ignore what the upgrades include cuz i was like that too, i thought it was a bunch crap and i was ready to jump ship to something else, but when i gave it a real chance it grew on me like i said and i cant believe is wanted to stay with 6.1 after really trying 6.5

Yea I guess you are right, I should not have brushed it off so quick. It probably needs more then a day to start liking it. I was just afaride it was going to be like windows millennium, lol, since this is just a filler until WM 7 comes out.

You could always try out all the new themes that are coming out for 6.5 also, their getting more abundant now.

well i wasnt the biggest of fan of it at first but the start menu grew on me and now i lobve it. as mentioned before it has the updated scrolling, new skinning options, store app, etc.... wm 6.5 is going to be bad ass and how smooth it runs is a plus too... i love the start menu myself since i can see everything from it and noit have to open many many folders to get to stuff..... the windows default plugin is also very ice and skinnable. when you add the contacts and weather tabs it makes it really nice and honestly between that and mobile shell 3 i havent even set up the touchflo on my device since i havent used it in that long and it was getting old anyways..... but thats my thoughts and trust me when you try it again for a couple days it will grow on you fast and you will love it.

I am glad you mentioned a weather and fav tab could be added. That was one thing I did not like about WM6.5.

I do like the weather tab! I want more customization of the notification on the today screen! Something more noticable than just a "1" by vm, txt, etc...

i dont have the honecomb background look.... i have my device all murdered out right now in black including the battery cover, my touchflo 3d-2, selboriyorker mobile shell 3.0, bars, everything to the last T lmao....... didnt like the look so i ditched it for the flat back background behind the icons.

So, I went with Juicy 7 Rom, cause it still has TF3D2 and that still has the cool factor over me, lol. It also has WM6.5, so I am dipping my feet in the water rather than a full jump in. I am going on vacation for a week and a half, so I will be able to mess around with it fully and maybe fall in love with it. Thanks everyone for your input.

I'll chime in... Been on Mighty 5 w WM6.5 for 18 hours? Ha! And I am LOVING WM 6.5. The Start Menu still has to grow on me cause I like the whole "recently used" portion of 6.1, but there's a whole lot more for me to get versed on this thing. I'm not even gonna bother setting up TF3D for a while and force feed myself WM 6.5 for a few days and see how it goes! I will admit I'll be running SPB MS3 as well though! :PDT_Armataz_02:

yup being like me huh lmao..... and you can also edit what icons are on the top of the list making it easier to get to the ones that you use the most with the least amount of scrolling possible.
