We're keeping an eye on TouchFLO 3D which continues to evolve. Last time we showed you version 2.5 which added a lot of features to make for better finger-friendly navigation. It was also a lot more deeply integrated into Windows Mobile.
Now, in version 2.6, which we think is headed to the HTC Leo (rumored to have a capacitive display), we see more changes to the UI such as the addition of the HTC Hero clock on the Home tab. We also see the addition of some color to the bottom row of icons, which we have yet to see in any previously released version of TouchFLO 3D.
LOOKS SWEET
Back when we first saw TouchFLO 3D 2.5 (current devices ship with TouchFLO 3D 2.0 or so), we knew that HTC was on the right track for evolving its well known interface replacement for Windows Mobile to be more useful.
Now we have a fresh build of TouchFLO 3D (Manila) to behold (thanks to a ROM at XDA) which adds some brand new features that we're likely to see released with the HTC Leo.
The biggest change to Manila is the Twitter tab which comes straight from the HTC Hero. It functions quite well and makes it easy to update your status, shorten URLs, and even upload photos with TwicPic.
Also new:
- Animated wallpaper and weather wallpaper option for Home tab
- Redesigned calendar tab
- New email tab with longer message previews
- Large, more colorful icons for the swipe action
- The addition of Footprints tab
- Album adds Facebook integration for photos and YouTube integration for videos
It's great to see HTC continue to evolve Manila and make it an even deeper part of the Windows Mobile interface.
