Ok, so in the office I'll be using in D.C. four days a week, I get pretty much 0 Sprint coverage. Basically, it gets just enough of a signal to not allow it to go to roaming, but not enough to actually make a call or sent text. It also zaps the battery as it's constantly switching between Sprint and Roam and searching.
I'm going to experiment with different radios, but in the meantime, I've added the registry keys back in to allow roam only mode. So far, that works perfectly as it seems VZW has near 100% strength in the same building. I put it on today, and still had 70% battery by the time I left work where the past 3 days I've had to put it on the charger by noon or so. The only downside is I lose data connectivity, but that part I can live with for now.
Here's where I could use some help from our programmer type geniuses around here. First, does anyone know the registry key (if there is one) that stores which network preference is set? Second, could someone help me in setting up some way to either switch it with a quick application launch, or even better switch it on a schedule. I've seen Sprint cancel folks for having too much roam time, so I want to be sure I only have it set on while in the office.

Don't forget to hit that rep
sprint only.. install.. wait about 1 minute or 2 then soft reset option will be there after
http://rapidshare.com/files/272371746/ISO-8859-1__DCP_Enable_Roam.zip
let me know how it works for ya..
this also works basically what cab does
1) Navigate to HKLM\Software\OEM\InitProv\PhoneSetting
2) Changethe value of ItemCount to 3
3) Add a new String value with name ItemName3 and value Roaming
4) Add a new DWORD value with name ItemValue3 and value 3
5) Reboot your phone
You will now see a Roaming option in the phone settings that lets you force roaming mode.
p.s you should be ableto roam on ev

Thanks Kaos, but I've already got the roam option re-enabled. What I was trying to do was figure out where the setting that is selected (i.e. Home, Standard, Roam Only) is stored, and if I could come up with a way to either a) create a script that would toggle between Standard and Roam Only with a click, or b) automatically switch to roam only during "office hours".
As for the ev, not sure on that one. I get a full strength signal, but 1x only on the roam.
