Google has confirmed that Pixel phones with the new 80% charge limit support bypass charging.
When 80% charge is detected, the battery stops charging, but current is still used to power the handset.
There isn’t a dedicated bypass charging toggle, so the phone will always charge to 80% before bypassing.


As part of a recent Pixel Feature Drop (https://www.androidauthority.com/google-pixel-drop-december-2024-3503850/), Pixel phones introduced a “Limit to 80%” charging option to help preserve long-term battery health. After some investigation, we discovered that this new option’s side effect is that Pixels support bypass charging (https://www.androidauthority.com/pixel-bypass-charging-3507373/) once the phone hits this 80%. We reached out to Google with our findings, and the company has confirmed that this is exactly the intended behavior.
