The Galaxy Z Flip 7 (https://www.sammobile.com/tag/galaxy-z-flip-7/) and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (https://www.sammobile.com/tag/galaxy-z-fold-7/) will be Samsung's next-generation foldable phones. They are expected to be released in the middle of this year. While the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-z-fold-special-edition-launch-specifications-features/) proved that Samsung can make slim foldable phones with good cameras, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might still not bring major changes.

Samsung expects to sell 7 million units of Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7

A report from South Korea claims that major changes in Samsung's foldable phones might only appear with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. This information was revealed (https://www.thelec.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=31905) in an interview with China's Fastprint, which became the first supplier of High-Density Interconnect (HDI) for the Galaxy S25 series.

In the interview, a Fastprint executive claimed that Samsung has plans to sell 6 million Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 units. However, the South Korean firm reportedly has plans to sell 7 million units of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 collectively. If this is true, things aren't looking great for Samsung's foldable phones.

The report also reveals that Samsung plans to sell around 230 million smartphones this year. While the company shipped over 300 million phones in 2019, sales fell since the COVID-19 pandemic and never recovered to the pre-COVID-19 levels. Last year, Samsung's overall smartphone sales were reportedly in the range of 222 million units.

At 37 million units, Galaxy S25 sales could outpace the hit Galaxy S10 series

According to the report, the Galaxy S24 (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s24/) had a strong showing (https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s24-sales-higher-galaxy-s23-q1-q2-2024/), selling 35 million units in 2024. These figures are better than those of the Galaxy S23 (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s23/) series. Samsung expects the Galaxy S25 series to sell slightly more, at 37 million units this year.

It has plans to manufacture 13-14 million units of the Galaxy S25 (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s25/), 6-7 million units of the Galaxy S25+ (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s25-plus/), and 17 million units of the Galaxy S25 Ultra (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s25-ultra/). If these numbers are accurate, sales of the Galaxy S25 series will be higher than the hit Galaxy S10 series, which was sold in the range of 35 million units.
