After further testing with the 1.11 vs the telus 1.04.05 i've seen that for me in the nashville area that the 1.11 switches from 1x to ev far to often and the telus stays on ev almost always until you make a phone call.

With that being said. If you don't think it makes a different then you're wrong. Switching from 1x to ev will actually piss you off if you are using internet on the phone cause you will be crawling very slowly instead of it being worth using. Might not hurt on the phone call side of things though. The 1.11 did "seem" to give me gps locks better, but that will just have to be the only downside of me using the telus one vs sprint. I like my gps, but i like having a usable phone better.

The 1x and ev switching also takes a tole on the battery life because of it always refreshing your internet connection when you have programs set to auto download and having it on ev makes things go so much more smoothly.

Now if I could just get the best of both worth and have functionaliy AND usability then I'd be set for good.

yup i noticed the same in the grand rapids, mi 49505 area..... telus is the best fit for me and always in evdo no matter what..... the speeds are great on the internet and with all data transfers and the gps for me locks on tremendously fast........ the second best radio is the newest sprint and the worst for me would have to be the uscellular.

PLEASE help!!!! everywhere i go to download RADIO 1.11 i have no luck...i can never get any of the links for that particular radio to work... i can download any and every radio from their link but that 1....PLEASE HELP!!!! someone PM me with help....thank you in advance!!!

Our download works just fine.

You might have to read the n00b section first though and introduce yourself and stuff.

i do not get redirected to download page or get the download pop up window for this particular radio...as i stated previously i can get every other radio version to download except this one regardless of what site i am trying to download them from....THANK YOU DASH...but as far as the link for that radio its still not working for me....does this site not work properly with IE?

I just tried upgrading to this radio but it gave me this error "Invalid Model ID" "This update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please check your update utility". Do i need to flask back a stock sprint rom?(running SsS-ROMv0117)

thats because these radios are for the diamond and the touch pro and won't work on your touch...If you have the touch pro make sure it is unlocked and you update your profile

this isn't for my vogue, Im trying to upgrade the radio on a Pro, im sure the phone is unlocked since i just flash SsS-ROMv0117 2 days ago and didn't lock it back.

well than go ahead and download and than flash as you would a rom and you will have no troubles.... and btw you may want to update your profile. and for the error your not trying to flash this raio over to a gsm deivice are you? liek the fuze for instance?

That's the thing Dash, it won't let me, it gives me the error i mentioned before, and updating the profile in my phone is another issue, it gives me error code :407, i just got off the phone with sprint to try to update the profile, first thing the asked "why do you want to do that?" to which I didn't know what to say bc i don't what that's for lol, anyway i said "Im just trying to see what it does", the guy said he was sending me an update and that i had to dialed *2 which im in the process of right now, it's still programming.

huh they prolly just updated your prl would be my guess... and if that doesnt work i will dig up a cab from my laptop when the boss leaves in a bout 45 minutes and that shoudl allow you to be able to have those work.... also did you make sure that you downloaded the sprint version of the rom?

just an fyi the only time I ever got the update profile to work was right after I activated my phone and it needed to update to get my data working so I think it is only for if you need it updated to get data to work (don't quote me cause I really have no idea what it does, this is just my conjecture) also, the prl updated helps you find a different tower to get a better signal and I believe that if it doesn't update then there are no better towers in range.

Ok thanks for the info, I still can't update the radio, or flash back to stock(to see if then I can update the radio), not sure what's the problem, when i flashed to "SsS-ROMv0117" everything was a breeze.

hmm...I've never heard of a problem updating a radio except for when trying to update from the sd card. are you trying to update from your computer?

yes from my pc, the update starts, goes up to 5% and then stops and says that my Device ID is invalid

the herman is not the touch pro thats the raphael... the herman is the diamond thus why you are having troubles..... i have said this many times to people... WATCH WHAT YOU FLASH OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE!!!!!!

yes the ones in this thread are for the pro..... and dont know why you would be getting the errors if you are truely unlocked.... i would now update all your settings on the stock rom and than try again.... odesnt make any since that it wouldnt work if yoy are truly unlocked.

ok ok this question just came to mind, now that I have the stock rom, did it lock itself again? I though it would be unlock even after going to stock, so I didn't run the unlocker, could that be my problem now?

once you unlock it it will stay unlocked unless you manually relock the phone yourself.... flashing to a stock rom will not revery you to having the bootloader locked down again.

I can swear i read somewhere that i needed "Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_025_MFG.zip " as unlocker, now reading at ppcgeeks turns out that's the wrong one, im supposed to be using .037 instead, how was I able to flash to a custom room with .025?.....it's not important anymore, but anybody wanna take a guess?

IM FEELING AWESOME!!!........that solved the problem, now I have to flash this phone back to the custom it had before, which should be easy. Thanks Dashs for your help, uhmm i can remember Superman as well, I can't remember the other guys that helped me throughout the day, thank you all!!!

hahahah go wings!!! and yes we do :smile: i feel you will find yourself staying with this radio in our area.... basically i have found this to give me the best signal and by far the best battery life even under heavy use :)

What do these radio packages actually do? What is the point of using them? Are they updates to the radio that is shipped with the device? I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what are these actually used for; what would one hope to achieve by using one of these radios instead of what's already on your device?

well basically think of a radio as your wifi router for your pc...... you get a better router it can be found at a farther distance with a stronger signal.... the radio does the same for you but since it is off of cell towers and all cell towers are in different areas different radios will pick them up better...... in the noth east its the telus radio, for the south and southeast seems to be the sprint radio...... where are you located ast and hope this helps you better understand the concept of a radio.

This is the 1.03.13F Altell radio from the HTC Diamond

Thanks to ajk144k for extracting out the radio from the Altell shipped ROM and Mattheyu for porting it over to the Touch Pro.

its been 6 days since i flashed to telus for my pro and i must say that reception has been amazing, battery life definetly better and i noticed alot more bars showing...thanks to all...
