too long, mine exploded in the microwave...yeah i would just put it in for 20 second intervals and see where its at each time, you want it where you can see the bubble forming, but the water is not quite boiling

TOO HOT will warp your back case causing your stylus to fall out or just dumb stuff like it won't go on right.. yeah just read first intro to this thread it goes into instructions... and don't leave flame on the whole time.. on and off every 4-5 min... that's what i did... i also read somewhere you can do it in the microwave so check into that one too.. may be easier to view what color your trying to get to... ;)

your stylus wont fall out it is magnetic and you can dye that too for the diamond users...... mine per instance is totallyy black with black stylus on my diamond and the black cover and many others on my pro.

Hey there, Well i just did this and WOW, it looks awesome. BTW, if you use a glass bowl, the dye does not stick to glass, put the bowl in the microwave for like 1 min and it does the job a pot and stove would do, i also had some old throw away chop sticks which were great for stirring and checking on the cover periodically. total process took me about 10 mins at best. and the glass bowl washed totally clean. and no dye came off when i buffed the cover in the final process, weird.... but color came out a dark amethyst color. woohoo

you have to remember that you can only go from light to dark and not a dark color to a light color...... you can get replacements for free most of the time ast the service center..... just walk in there without one on their and see if they have some or just tell them whats up and cut a deal that you will do one for them if they throw a couple your way....

Re: How to Dye Your Touch Pro Battery Cover

Hey,
I just wanted to say thanks for the tips. It went off without a hitch. Now, instead of having the sprints snobby color for the battery door it's now a deep blue. Funny thing is I picked a royal blue dye instead of the navy blue dye. Not sure if it's been mentioned but it's a probably won't hurt to say it again if it already has been said. "Pick a very light color and start there because odds are it'll be darker than you first think," would be a good tip for noobs. Thanks again for the tips, i'm very happy with the new color. :D

did it get killed or did it somehow land softly on the grass in a turd of dog shit to save it from internal injuries and external at the same time.

Yeah, think I left it in a little too long. It turned out more purple than royal blue but it looks really good still. I definitely like it. i will try to post a pic tonight when I get off work.

yup and the amount of the dye that you use as well as the time that you leave it in there will make a difference.... as well as the temperature of the water that you are using.... the warmer the water the faster that the dye starts to stick to the battery cover.

bout to say thats pretty blue to me lmao..... looks like it needs to be buffed... take a old rag or preferabbly a pair of jeans and just sit there and rub the case while watching tv for 10-15 minutes and that will uniform the color and keep it from fading as much over months and months of heavy use.

Re: How to Dye Your Touch Pro Battery Cover

This must be a stupid question because I didnt see anyone else ask this. But in the how to post, CHIEF says you dont cover the camera lense. Everyone seems to just drop the whole cover in the dye, Does the dye not stick to the plastic area where the camera lense is? I assume it only sticks to the rest of the cover. But just wanted to be extra sure before I dye my lense black and cant use my camera

the dye does not stick to the camera lens, that what i thought but i dyed it awhile back and had no troubles, wiped the lens w/paper towel and allowed to dry and worked like a charm...pictures are good.....

yup like tl said it doesnt matter.... i always put one on the front and back just for the mere fact i tape a paperclip all prebent so i can stir and pull out easily without getting dye on my fingers.

It says I cant add to rep twice in same post. Oh maybe the thumbs up counted. I was looking to click thanks to Dash and TL but i dont see the thanks buttons. I guess they are gone, im still used to the old site.

But more specific. Dash thanks for the Paper clip idea.
Heading to Walmart tomorrow. The Blue looks freakin sweet though. If i dye it black, is it possible to dye it blue after you already dyed it a dark color? Im guessing going from Blue to Black wouldnt be a problem though.

you can go from light to dark only and not the other way around.
