OpMon Change That Annoying Service Name To What You Want

OpMon - Script to change operator name
Per darktiger's request, I whipped up a little MortScript package with installer to let you easily set a custom operator name and the interval in which the script will check to make sure your operator name is set. It's a two-part MortScript, opmon is the config GUI and opset is the background process which will run on first load and at system startup to ensure your custom name "sticks". Installation & Usage 1. Download the zip file below and extract the CAB installer. 2. Run the CAB on your device to install. 3. Launch the config GUI by going to Start -> Programs -> OpMon. 4. Set your name and delay, then exit to apply the changes. This has only been tested on my Mogul, but there is nothing device specific in the script, so it should work on almost any phone. As always, suggestions are welcome and I hope you like it! FOR THOSE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ATTACHMENT TRY THIS RAPIDSHARE LINK: http://rapidshare.com/files/100577742/OpMon.CAB.html |

Re: OpMon Change That Annoying Service Name To What You Want
I receive the following msg when trying to install - "Installation of OpMon.cab was unsuccessful." Am I supposed to be running a certain version of the HTC Home plugin? On the other hand...is there something else out there that'll allow me to accomplish the same thing that OpMon is doing?

I've downlaoded this software from the Rapidshare Link, and also have downloaded from the Rapidshare Link straight to my phone (Opera Mobile)... The download always seems to go fine, but everytime I try to install, it shows "Unsuccessfull"... What do I do??

Re: OpMon Change That Annoying Service Name To What You Want
hey guys. heres a much easier way to change your cell phone carrier name. i got it from the xda-developers site so im not going to take an credit for it. all i know is that it works for every WM device. im using it on my tilt and my blackjack without a flaw. all you do is install it to your memory (takes only 140kb of space) and then just type what ever you want to be in place of your carrier name and press ok. and thats all there is to it. here is the link. hope you guys enjoy!

So i figured use my phone and DL the file. But for some reason the DL happened right away and the cab wouldnt work. I moved the cab to my PC and the file was corrupt and the 3 files i DLed were all 56Kb, Which wasnt the right file size. I was using opera on my mobile as well.. Donno why.... I cant get this app to work. I dont get it. So simple but it wont work. Changed name, set refresh to 1, did a soft reset. But it still says sprint. hmmmm.. I tried the xda link that was posted but it doesnt work anymore. |

Re: OpMon Change That Annoying Service Name To What You Want
lol, the rapidshare was a reply to someone else in this post saying they used opera on there mobile and none of there DLs worked. I had that same problem. Im not sure why. But every cab file I downloaded was only 56k, when i moved them to my pc they were all corrupt. But finally rapidshare is letting me DL again so its all good.
But thanks man.. I'll have to try that app. Im at starbucks right now. So have to check it out later. I figured this one would work since DASH has a HTC Touch as well. I know he has the Diamond, but i think the only difference between the Diamond and mine is this has a qwerty keypad that slides out. |

Re: OpMon Change That Annoying Service Name To What You Want
Super, thats what i cant figure out. Dash used it and Its simple enough to use. Place a name in line one, and put number 1 in line two. I've powered down and tried a soft reset. But yet im stuck with Sprint..
I looked up Personalizer_2.0 for a post but couldnt find it. I tried just Personalizer as well.. did you grab that program off Wckediden? --------- New Post Merged on 18/12/2008 at 04:09:32 -------- Oh what the hell... I just Downloaded S2P, The iphone mp3 player. And on the top left it had the custom name I used in OpMon. So apparently OpMon works on my phone. But on my home screen (Clock, Call History, Calendar, Date) it still says Sprint on the top right. That Sprint on the home screen must be a image file or something. Im just guessing since it wont change. |

This HTC Touch is my first PPC Phone. The MotoQ was simple to figure out, like how the home screen was laid out (just a image file). But I cant even figure out the Home screen on this phone, The 3D Icons as you scroll your finger across the bottom, how the pages load (Home, People, Music, Texts). I have no clue how they did that. Basically im trying to say I dont know even the basics about PPCphones. So Im a little worried that I may end up trashing my phone. It was a early Xmas gift. It would suck if I destroy it before Xmas even gets here. I would feel really bad. Plus I love this damn phone. ah screw it.. Okay Dash, What ROM should I use? I'll have to do some reading on here before i go through with it though. But just wondering what one you would suggest so i can go read through that thread. |

Bump..
http://i43.tinypic.com/10oppts.png OpMon allows you to change the mobile operator name on your device to one of your choosing. The mobile operator name is what you see when you enter your dialpad, receive an incoming call and what is displayed at the upper-left corner of the HTC Home plugin (ex. Sprint PCS, AT&T 3G). OpMon does not make any permanent changes, instead there is a background process (opset.exe) which checks at specified intervals to see what the current name is and makes a change if it doesn't match your custom name. You may see the name change back to the default occasionally when the phone's radio status changes (when the phone radio is turned off, roaming, etc.). OpMon will automatically change it to your custom selection as long as background monitoring is turned on, even after a soft-reset! NOTE: In my testing, you can set the "Check name every ____ seconds" option to as low as 1 second without adversely affecting performance on your device. Your mileage may vary. Requirements Windows Mobile 5 or 6 .NET 2.0 Compact Framework Usage 1. Install OpMon.cab. 2. Launch OpMon from Start->Programs->OpMon. 3. Enter a custom operator name. 4. Check enable background monitoring. 5. Set the number of seconds between name checks. |
Re: OpMon Change That Annoying Service Name To What You Want
