my pc won't connect to my touch anymore
 

all of the sudden my computer doesn't detect my touch anymore........pls help me!
i have a brand new pc with vista on it

have you tried to do a soft reset on the phone and than see if it connects if not try to reset the computer than reset the phone and have it pluggued in whil the computer in resetting and see what that does.

you must start up your computer in driver signature disabled mode

I had that same problem at one time. What I did was ensured I had my contacts in Outlook, deleted my phone from Active Sync/whatever the name is for Vista (I forgot), and re-established my phone to the Sync program. DO NOT DELETE YOUR PHONES CONTENT FOLDER OR YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF YOUR PROGRAMS, ETC!!!! It will ask you before you delete the phone from the Sync program if you want to delete the file folder CLICK NO. Re-sync and that should fix the issue. If it doesnt work you may have to remove the sync program and re-install....JUST DONT DELETE THE FILE FOLDER or you will lose all your save files.

power off you coputer and push the following during start up (f8, f10, f12) depends on you computer and youll get to a screen that asks you what mode to startup in select driver signiture mode disable,, and that should do it for ya hit rep thx

I posted this over than a year ago, and now im having the same problem again, I uninstalled WMC and reinstalled it again, i even hard reset my phone, i have the "enable advance network functionality" option unchecked, but nothing seems to work, my pc doesn't even make the typical sound when connecting my phone anymore, don't know what else to do.

check your virus scans and firewall aand make sure those arent blocking that..... also look in the female plug part on your device and make sure you dont have any bent pins in there.... (have you tried a different pc to see if that makes a difference?)

uhmm i don't think it's my firewall or antivirus since i've had both working fine for over a year along with my phone. The first time i had this problem, the solution was to uncheck the "enable advanced networking", but now i don't know what's causing the problem. I just used a different pc, and nothing, and the connector in my phone looks fine.

sounds like the pins are bent.... take it to your repair center and see if they can get it to work.... if not since they are out of touches at most repair centers you will prolly be walking out the door with a diamond on your hip.

Is your phone not even taking a charge, when it's tethered?

sometimes they will still charge even when the pins are bent but wont connect..... kaos had a huge problem with this on his mogul and is known to happen on the touch also.

I don't know if it will help but try using a different USB cable to connect to your PC. For some reason the cable that came with my Touch Pro will not connect to my PC (it charges the phone fine.) I tried using an extra cable that came with my old Mogul and it works great now. Don't know why but it worked for me. It's worth a shot.

I did connect it with a different cable but nothing, checked my antivirus settings just in case, everything is fine there, and it does charge when connected.

Well if it was workin fine before, and u did not change the settings then i dont think its a firewall issue... i dont know if you have tried to delete the relationship b/w your Pc and your device and reestablish a new from sctrach but if that doest help... then you have to go w/ big brotha D/\Sh and assume its issues with the pins inside the device... I know you said, it looks fine... but its dificult to see in that small space... and the slightest defect can affect your device ability to charge and sync, one or the other or both...

Like d/\SH said time to hit a repair center and see if you can get it fixed... or swap it out w/ your ins for a new one

My brother got today a mogul(alltel version) and i just tried connecting it to my pc and it recognized the phone for about 3 mins, then it disconnected automatically, so I unplugged the usb cable, plugged it back in, the pc made the connection sound, the sd card folder loaded and instantly disappeared, so i tried with a different cable and it's the same story.

def sounds like a pin or internal problem with the board.... take it to the repair center and hope you have insurance.

that was the story with the mogul, not my touch, anyway i think my touch is broken thou, bc now i wont' charge, but there's something wrong with my pc too since it couldn't connect to the mogul properly.

my damn touch now charges normally but just wont' connect to my pc, i went ahead and uninstalled my usb ports, mobile center, installed everything back and my touch still would not connect, good thing is that the mogul i was playing with connected and established a partnership properly, so my pc is ok :)

nope no insurance, but I remember i had problems with a dialer skin once, it would not let me do the #7723#(those numbers, not sure if that's even correct), anyway I spoke to sprint support(in spanish the call is redirected to Mexico) and the guy offered me a brand new Touch even though I did not get my touch through sprint, so I might be able to swap mine for a new one, besides I only have 10 more days of contract with sprint, and with no phone i can't enjoy their services, so they better please me lol :yahoo: , but first Ill let my brother do his thing. He recently started working at this place where broken phones arrive for repair. It seems like they only get HTC phones, he was telling me about my Touch in white(verizon), and that's how he got the Mogul(Alltel) i mentioned before. He took my phone yesterday for repair but they only fixed my power button that broke a while ago lol, they told him that the phone was charging correctly and to my surprise when he brought it back yesterday the freaking phone was charging again, but not connecting, so he's taking my phone again today specifically for connection problems. He said if they can't fix it, they'll just reuse the casing in my phone and put an all new hardware, so im hoping for the best :)

Ps. According to my brother they throw massive amount of phones to the garbage. I flashed the Altell mogul with a sprint rom, and then flashed to Kaos rom, Ill try swaping ESN numbers later when i get out of work.

lucky you, if i had all those trashed phones (htc) to get my hands on i would soooo develop research and new things since i wouldnt have to worry about bricking mine and having to go without one for some time.

I thought you were the Man when it comes to getting top of the line phones for free!!! I guest not lol........Well my brother just started working there a couple of weeks ago, Im not sure If he can bring home more of these HTC phones, I mean I asked him to look for a touch pro but he's not really familiar with phones, to tell the truth I don't even know what the hell he does over there lol, but If I He can get more phones Ill let you know.
