PIM Backup v2.7

PIM Backup v2.7 (Freeware)
Requirements: Windows Mobile PocketPC 2003/2003SE/2005/20066
Overview: PIM Backup v2.7 allows you to backup/restore the Personal information of the Pocket PC like Contacts, Appointments, Tasks etc. PIM Backup v2.7 allows you to backup/restore the Personal information of the Pocket PC like Contacts, Appointments, Tasks etc.

Restore contacts:
It is possible now to restore a text file containing contacts backed up from other applications, like in Outlook Express, the only constraint is that the first line should contain the fields and the fields need a separator. (See screenshots). The tool allows to map default fields to fields found in the file. It is possible now to insert duplicates.

Backup messages:
The mail database is completely parsed to retrieve all the messages stored in every directory and subdirectory. It is possible to select which account and directories should be backed up. You can save attachments as wel if they exist on the pocket pc.

Restore messages:
Same as the backup, you can select which account and directories should be restored to the device. Caution, if an account doesn't exist on the pocket pc, this application will discard the messages that belong to that account.

Restore appointments:
There was a bug in PPCBckpContacts where appointments with the same name on different dates weren't restored. This should be fixed in this tool.

Schedule backup:
It is possible to schedule a backup, each day of the week and this at a specific hour. If the pocket pc is suspended, it will wake up and do the backup. You can eventually control the number of backups to keep and switch off the pocket pc after the scheduled backup is finished.
The schedule backup creates a notification that can be cleared via the Options Menu.

File types:
There is only one file type now, which is .pib (Personal Information Backup), in fact it is just a zip file (so you can open it with a zip application) which contain the different text files used in PPCBckpContacts, so you can still extract these files, edit them on a pc using Excel or Notepad and eventually restore them without putting them back in the .pib file.

alright ill do that. but do you know how i can try opening these zips with the something else on my computer? because before i installed the winrar i use to be able to open zips with some program on my computer. not sure what it was though or where to find it. i just know it did it automatic but ever since installing the winrar i would get these errors sometimes. so im thinking if i try to unzip it with something else it will work?

but i dont know how to unzip it with something else.

right thats how the exe works no installation need just opens it. than my guess would be tat you will need it on the touch also so it knows what it is reading and all... and fo the contacts your best bet would be to searchg google or handango for names cause i guarntee tht we have the app on the site or coud gt it for you if we dont.

ok i get that part now about the win32.

and well the pim backup did work to transfer my contacts i did need the program on both phones and had to transfer over the saved file than open it in the program. only thing is the contacts arent in the order they were on in my touch. im not sure if its in order by numbers or wat. because it starts with my contacts letter "J" also it seems like some contacts might be missing im not sure why that is.

thats what im about to do is count them out. not sure if there is an option somewhere that tells you how many contacts you have or dont have? but yes thats what im going to do is count them. i looked for a option like that of alphabetical or by number but couldnt find anything that changed it.

Re: PIM Backup v2.7

hey dash i found out what the problem was. it wasnt that it was starting at the "J" contacts. but for some reason it like only copied contacts "J" through like i wanna say "R" or something like that. basically it didnt copy them all so i retried it and well there we go lol it copied them all right and had all my contacts. A-Z and the contacts i had titled with "#'z".

just thought i share with you i found out the problem.

Should work no problem. Just install PIMbackup on your phone and load the save from your memory card. I dont see why it would be a problem

thats correct and you will be fine... dont use backup lie swcked or anything where it will back up registry and apps, this will cause a potential brick of the phone.
