Changes made from version 4.20.30w to 4.20.50w:

* Provide a maximum height for the gray toolbar buttons at the bottom of the main menu for smartphone devices with tall screens.
* Update copyright year to 2008.
* Update application default for South Africa to use English (preferred).
* Update Dutch translations.
* Correct an SDK error that could cause the application to terminate when QueSelectAddressFromFind is used.

Changes made from version 4.20.20w to 4.20.40w:

* Provide additional error checking to detect corrupted NMEA input from third party GPS receivers.
* Provide increased voice prompt volume for smartphone devices.
* Provide additional coordinate location formats when selecting Where To -> Coordinates.
* Modify map drawing settings to improve the map drawing speed.
* Correct text translations (Dutch).

Installation procedure:

a) Start installation of 'GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_42020w.exe' from PC through ActiveSync. Select your Storage Card as destination. During the installation, files will be copied to your storage card. The files should appear in '\Storage Card\Garmin\Apps\WM'.
b) Install 'GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx.exe' for voice files. In storage card
c) Install 'GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx.exe' for Garmin's base map. In storage card
d) Run GarminMobileXT and click "Connect to a Garmin GPS" go to 'setting\about' record the Unit ID and use keygen to create unlock key.
e) Save as sw.unl file.
f) Copy 'sw.unl' to '\Storage Card\Garmin'.

If I do a soft reset, I get prompted that I have the latest version of Garmin and do I want to run it. I recall reading somewhere here how to correct this, something about deleting some info in a folder, but I cannot find that post. Could someone re-post the solution so I don't get prompted to install the program at startup from a reset.

no man if it says run it, it means to run the program not install it again. I use this everyday and it always ask me to RUN IT. Just watch out for the time change thing, give it a few minutes if you are in your network area it will change back.

no bro it shouldn't do this.I have it installed.After it installs remove autorun from startup folder..you will be fine..once installed its good to go.i launch mine via my left soft key.Remember to press thankyou.

Thanks Kaos with the response. I will go into the startup folder and delete the Garmin auto start. I also used the thank you tab. Which factor does the "thank you" impact on your account?

I saved the Garmin program on storage card. I looked into My Device/Windows/Startup folder and did not see the autorun for Garmin. Where do I delete the autorun?

Can this version work for wm 6.1? bc i have successfully installed the program but whenever I go to run it, i get a message with an error. If not, what is the best GPS program for wm 6.1? thanks for all the help

This should and does run on WM6.1 first of all. Secondly, I'm not all sure about your error. I have a little bit older build version (The one in the sticky) installed on my touch and it works fine. It sounds like either some little file is missing, or its pointing to the wrong place (I.E. storage card when it needs a file on the device or vise versa). Maybe try uninstalling and re-installing. Or remove and re-insert storage card.

TomTom and Garmin are both good. There are a few things that are better about each, so you have to strike it up to personal preference. TomTom may be a little easier to get on your phone than this, but not by far. Back to topic.

I believe it is in the 2577 folder. Try that.

This version is an update/bug fix. you need to install the full version from the sticky section first. The full file is around 54 megs zipped and this one is one 8 megs.

For Garmin when I try to type in an address or find a store or something it says "Detailed Maps are Required to use this feature" I know on the keygen you can unlock map products. What is the code for the ones i need to use the address and 'food, hotels' features? If I cant then just let me know. Thanks a lot.

You need the maps from the other garmin sticky thread. North america maps for these functions

sorry to be a problem, i installed, got to the "save as sw.unl file and then copy to storage card. i know i am supposed to save the code the unlocker generated, i am lost, i am sure it is easy but got me stumped

how do i save, what and where

You have to use Notepad on your PC. Paste your code within Notepad, and go to File/Save as. Then save as fyle type: All Files from the dropdown menu, and name it "sw.unl". you then copy that file over to your card through active sync or WM device center and voila.

Someone mentioned though that you need to install the older version first and that this is just the update in this thread. Not sure about that. Let us know how it goes. Hit thanks if that helped.

no, i believe you get the unit id from running the garmin xt software on your phone first and it will tell you a unit id.

I had this version running on my mogul and for sh!ts and giggles I updated to the new XT interface (v5.00.10w) It is Garmins new version where you can download cars to replace the directional arrow. Other interface changes as well.

All I did was download the XT updated version...

I didn't see that anyone was having a problem with this but what do I do after I followed all of the instructions....when I open the app the only options that open are enter product key....????.....and connect to a Garmin GPS?? If this is already addressed just redirect me to the thread, but I didn't see it.

Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.20w is out and takes care of some low memory problems and TXT messaging problems that previous version had. Since upgrading to these newer versions I have not had any problems with the device randomly changing the time.........

i have everything installed i think, but when i go into garmin and try to connect to garmin gps it goes to the next screen and scans for bluetooth and scans for attachments over and over but never picks anything up. can someone tell me whats wrong or what i need to do?

ok are you running a stock rom or custom? If you are using stock gps may still be locked. you can search for an updated stock rom or flash over to a custom one we got here. and if your gps is unlocked i believe you have to set it to COM5 or 6

whats your baud rate and your com port? and try to run with a buffer like google maps in the background running. (like make sure that it connects through google maps and finds you.)

also on another note: Fully Tested And Confirmed Compatibility on vga device....Works great on my Touch Pro.

shows more map....better detail...graphics are clearer....
