First thing, I would like to thank all of the sMMS Donators. Everyone has helped a lot with hours of testing.
I would like to announce the official release of v0.4.3.08. This release I concentrated on Bug fixes and basically making the application stable. A major feature that has been added this release, is Themes. Now you have to ability to change the basic color scheme of sMMS to match your phone's theme. I would like to thank DeCiBeL, for creating the first sMMS Theme Pack. Great Job!!! He has also created a Basic Tutorial on how create your own Themes. It also includes a gallery of themes included in Theme Pack 1.

This application can be used to send MMS (Picture Mail) for Sprint Customers. Messages will be sent via "Sprint Picture Mail". It should be an easy solution to the MMS issue, for most users. You still have the same limitations as Picture Mail, not Video support and only able to send JPEGs.

Supports sending messages to Phone Numbers or Email addresses. Messages sent to Email addresses will send a link. Which will allow users to view the pictures in their browser. Messages to Phone Numbers should work like anyother MMS for most providers, Sprint has a list of supported providers.

NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A SPRINT VISION PLAN AND A PICTURE MAIL ACCOUNT SETUP. ALSO THIS DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR SPRINT PICTURE MAIL, IT JUST HELPS WITH A EASIER SENDING PROCESS. YOU SHOULD CONTINUE TO USE PICTURE MAIL ON YOUR PC.

Oh yeah, this version will expire in a month. Since it is only alpha I don't want old version floating around, a pain to support.

Requirements:
WM5, WM6 PPC / SP
.NET 2.0+ (If needed here is .NET CF 3.5)

Installation/Setup:
FYI: How To: Install, Uninstall, and Transfer Files on Windows Mobile
1. Unzip file and then copy the CAB file to your Phone
2. Using the File Explorer, click on the CAB file to launch it
3. You can install the app to your Device, Ext ROM or SD Card - SMARTPHONES WILL REQUIRE A SOFT RESET BEFORE LAUNCHING
4. Once installed, go to "Start => Programs" and click the sMMS icon
5. When open go to "Menu => Settings" to enter your SPRINT PICTURE MAIL Login information. You can get your Picture Mail Password from http://pictures.sprintpcs.com/
6. Click Save.

Why do I need to use sMMS to send MMS messages?
A few months ago, Sprint blocked MMS sending using a PDA/PPC device. Sprint recommended that PDA users use the Sprint Picture Mail website. Great, for whatever reason they blocked
MMS, they atleast offered a workaround/solution. sMMS helps users upload and send photos using their Picture Mail website.

Why can't you make sMMS send videos, my friend has Picture Mail on her phone and can send video?
sMMS uses the Picture Mail website not the Picture Mail service offered to "Normal" cell phone users. The way sMMS is built, it can not do anything that the Picture Mail website
does not do. And the Picture Mail website does not let you upload videos. You can receive video, just can't upload or send them.

So this actually uses Sprint's pic mail system/servers (ie the message is sent from your phone number vs annonymously over email)? If so, how did you get around Sprint's block? Can you access their servers over a different port than the Arcsoft software allowed or something? I guess Sprint's main issue was just the use of software that they had purchased the license for.
No I didn't find any special port or hack anything. sMMS is basically a browser that formats the Picture Mail website. To help send messages easier. sMMS is not a replacement for
Picture Mail but you can use it along side of the Picture Mail website. Also it is sent from your, Picture Mail account, your number is attached just like if you used any other
Browser. I imagine that it works that same as those Usage Today plugins.

I sent a message to a friend on Verizon and he has not got it yet, what is wrong?
There is an issue between Sprint and Verizon when attempting to send pictures that are too large. This seems to happen when sending images 700Kb or higher. Reduce the image size
and send again. This issue should be resolved in v0.4.3

How do I use the contacts list to populate the TO field?
Click the To: link or click the center DPAD button while your cursor is in the TO field.

When sending a message I get an "Out of Memory" Error. I have a super phone it should be able to handle any application.
This issue should be resolved in v0.4.3

My version I have installed says it has Expired?
The first post in the thread will ALWAYS have a version that has not expired. Keeping up with the Current updates will keep you from getting the Expiration notice. If you install the current version you'll be all caught up and the Expiration notice goes away until the next update. (Which will be soon)

No, you don't have to donate. But if this application works and solves a major issue, I ask that you contribute in someway to the sMMS project. Also this is a "hobby" project, so please help in someway to pervent sMMS from turning into a commercial product or even worst, fading away.

What do I get if I Donate?
Nothing, Nothing at all. Just kidding. You get the opportunity to get advanced versions of sMMS or any products that evolve from it. If for some reason, sMMS is forced to become a commercial product, no sign of that yet, you will get a lifetime license to the software.

How do I get a Picture Mail account?
"First check your Sprint account to see if you have a picture mail access. (If you have power vison you should have it..)
Next go to pictures.sprintpcs.com and click on login. put in your phone number and select "no send me a password". you should get a txt msg with your password. you can login to

After I installed the application I get an error message: "This application (sMMS.exe) requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device.". What do I do, now?

I have qwest as my carrier which uses the sprint network and i have pcs vison plan with pic mail will it work on that

you said u had picmail already on the qwest? if so, then why would you need this? this is a hack for the phones that dont have picmail like the moguls or touch

i have the mogul through qwest. but the plan i have come with vision and pic which my wife can use on her phone but not mine since i got the mogul

i installed and followed the instrctions but i think qwest uses a differnt sever because i manage my pics through the qwest website not the sprint web site. i also followed the link to get my pic mail password from sprint which i got and inputted in the settings area. the message was sent but never went to my wife phone

Go to Sprints Picture mail sitehttp://pictures.sprintpcs.com/, as described in the origianl post, and see if you have an account with them. If so it will work, if not then no dice.

I hope you are just kidding around...

I think it is totally worth the mere 5$ donation he is asking. I don't have the full version yet, that comes after payday in two weeks! but still love it, it is such a needed thing for me and my family with my oldest overseas, this allows us to share photos of my grandson (his first).
Looking at the program and the work he has put it into I think I will be supporting his work regardless of whatever sprint does with theirs.

My hats off to SomeGuyMMS and a huge thanks for this great program!

Actually u can still get a "free' version..just a bunch of nag screens. But the $5 donation version is HOT! It opens the pictures directly on the screen.. No longer have to go to a link. LOVES it! It even opened a video message someone sent me directly in media player. Well worth the $5. AND..you get upgrades for life by clicking update on the phone. Can't go wrong..only $5.

it worked fine for sending pics but for some reason i cant recieve picture mail anymore...so i unistalled the program and still cant recieve piture mail...any help will be apreciated

The app shouldnt mess up recieveing pic mail! call your carrier and make sure they didnt remove the feature!

is there a alternative to this on a mogul but through another provider like cricket...? this looks like a great program i just want to use it already lol but im not with sprint...
