Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
Help!! Please
Ok to recap: I have a Verizon VX6900 and last night I tried to update to the OMJ GPS + Rev A update. I first unlocked the phone using the Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31 and verified that 2.31 was displayed. Then I updated the ROM to the RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.04.671.2_Radio_4350H_3 .37.10_Alltel_NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecia lNBH version (i think this is where i messed everything up because I let the Alltell customization settings go through instead of soft resetting before the 321) After this ran the OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.Verizonv2 installation and was able to get WMP 6.1 running but was not able to make any calls or get on the internet. Calling #8899 and authenticating got the phone calls working but still no internet. I have since tried reinstalling the ROM which goes through but gets me to the same point (however even if i do a hard reset or reinstall the Alltell or OMJ ROM I never loose authentication with Verizon (dont know if thats weird or not). What I think the problem may be is that the Alltell settings are not leaving my phone...for example if I dial ##778 and go into the security settings everything says Alltell..and if i edit these settings and then do a *228 on my phone to reprogram...all the Alltell settings come back. So I think the only way to fix this would be to revert back. to a 100% Verizon ROM and let it do the customization and then go through the whole process again...problem is I cant find a verizon ROM that will work. I tried installing this rom ( [NEW] Verizon Stock Rom Version 2.0.9 )) but after the install the phone just hangs at the PPCGEEKS page... I dont know what to do? I found this thread which talks about sprint phones and even describes a similar situataion where Alltell was allowed to customize and how to go into the phone and change settings, but the instructions are for sprint phones. And the instructions to revert back to factory ROM I tried and thats when I get the PPCGEEK page hanging. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24979 So I am lost and need help. |
Re: Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
you said that after you install the verizon rom you get stuck at the ppcgeeks page what do you mean? like PIE is open and stuck on the page or that you can't navigate away from the page..did you try a hard reset after after it got stuck on the ppcgeeks page?

I think the solution at this point would be to get a 1) relocker 2) stock verizon ROM that works When I tried the 2.0.9 verizon ROM on this site using the RUU loader it gives me an Error 244....not sure why. My logic is that I have to get the Alltel stuff off the phone and replace it with verizon stuff..the only way would be to manually change every file Alltell modifys (this could be done, but I dont even know what files are being modified) or to reflash the ROM back to verizon...just to allow me to restart the whole process over again. I dont have a relocker and I have searched far and wide through the site...I found a Titan relocker, but nothing for the VX6900 |

Re: Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
Yes..just comes back to the same baker
Just to clarify..I get the baker when I try to reflash back to stock ROM |
Re: Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
But I never "relocked" the phone so maybe thats why???
|
Re: Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
It first displays the baker screen with the numbers at the bottom (are those important?) for example it says R. 3.37.10 ....then it just shows the baker and gets stuck there

Re: Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
Do you by any chance know if I need to use some program to "relock" before I run the RUU utility to add the stock ROM?
and if this is the case...what program I can use? |
Re: Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
This what I found...I know it says for Sprint users...Cant hurt to try...If dosnt wrk your in the same situation.....so Maybe try it :o)
Oh ya I found it at PPCGEEKS.COM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DOWNGRADING AND REVERTING BACK TO ORIGINAL SPL 1. Download ImCoKeMaN's original unlocker here: ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/Im...e_unlocker.exe 2. Run Vogue_unlocker.exe and follow the on screen instructions to a T as it is very easy to mess up. This will overwrite the 2.31.coke SPL. During the unlocking process your device will display 0.36.coke SPL. This will change once update is complete. 3. Once you finished with the unlocker, your SPL should no longer display 2.31.coke but should now display 0.40.coke. 4. Your device will automatically soft-reset after the update is complete. Do not allow to boot back up into OS. Instead, hold down the camera and power buttons and insert the stylus into the soft-reset hole again putting you in bootloader mode. IF YOUR DEVICE DISPLAYS AN SPL OF 0.40.coke THEN CONTINUE TO STEP 5. IF NOT THEN RE-RUN STEPS 2&3 UNTIL IT DOES. 5. Since it is recommended that you flash back to the OEM 6.0 Sprint ROM at this time, that is the link that I am providing here. Download and flash the OEM 6.0 Sprint ROM. This will overwrite the custom SPL written by ImCoKeMaN's unlocker. 6. You're now done. Your phone has now been reverted back to it's original shipped state. PLEASE NOTE: It has been said that GPS radios and Non-GPS radios are very different. Flashing from the original 1.13 Radio to a 3xx Radio will write a TOTALLY new Radio to your device and reverting back to the OEM 1.12 Radio will not completely remove the new 3xx radio. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESTORE THE 1.33.003 PRI (Must complete the Downgrading and reverting back to original SPL tutorial first - CRITICAL) If you are a Sprint user and you allowed the Alltel customization to run and complete then you most likely are now wondering where the Sprint PCS banner went from the HTC Home Plugin and are also wondering why you are not able to connect to the internet regardless of what you do. This is a tutorial on how to fix this problem. What happened to cause this problem is that Alltel's customization also contains a 2.01.001 PRI which is different from Sprint's 1.33.003 PRI. Allowing customization to run will overwrite Sprint's with Alltel's leaving you with no internet or Sprint PCS banner on the Home plugin. Here is how to fix it: 1. Download GetSPC here: http://www.5gmobile.us/mobilefiles/VX6800/GetSPC.zip 2. Extract the zip file and copy the GetSPC folder to the root of main memory of your device. 3. Go to Start/Settings/System/Device Information and either open notepad or get a piece of paper and write down your ESN. This is your HEX ESN. 4. Run GetSPC.exe from that folder you placed on in the ROOT folder of your device and in the TOP box, type in your HEX ESN. Hit "GO" and the number generated will be your MSL. Write this number down as well. 5. From the dialpad(MUST BE ORIGINAL VOGUE DIALPAD, NOT A SKINNED DIAL PAD) dial ##786# and it will bring up a large list of quite a few different numbers. Write down your MDN and MSID(you will need them, trust me). 6. Click Menu and select reset. It will ask you to put in an unlock code. Type in your MSL. Everything will reset back to the factory defaults, including your PRI, MDN, and MSID. 7. Follow boot sequence and align screen and what not and allow Sprint's customization to complete. 8. From the dialpad, dial ##(6 digit MSL here)# and click edit. Type in your MDN and MSID and click OK. 9. Your phone should now be reverted back to the bare bones stock OEM 6.0 Sprint ROM with the Sprint PRI of 1.33. You're done. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Re: Did not soft reset after Alltell ROM
Hi Dash,
At this point I can't even get the phone past the bootloader. I screwed up and tried reintalling the Alltel ROM before updating to 2.31. So now I dont get an active sync (but it does show USB on my phone) and my phone just loads directly to the RED, GREEN, BLUE, WHITE screen. Everytime I try to run a RUU it doesnt get past 0%. |
