Step-by-Step Answers on Preparing Your NEW Mogul for the HTC Diamond Interface/Theme
As a person with Muscular Dystrophy, I work best with products that can customized to my liking. After watching Matt (a.k.a. Dash) demonstrate the Diamond interface on the Mogul, I decided to order myself a Mogul. It should arrive by the end of the week.
Since I'm quite new to these type of phones, I'm quite lost as to where to even begin the process of installing the HTC Diamond interface on the Mogul, and because I know other new users are having the same issues, I've started this thread with the hope that those like Matt and the other experienced modders will offer a step-by-step approach toward specifically transforming a new Mogul and giving it the following characteristics: 1) The HTC Diamond interface, including the correct font and everything else necessary to give the clock and other aspects of the theme an authentic look. 2) Include information on how to install features like Quick Menu and the Slide Bar that add beauty to the interface. 3) The Sky Fire Browser would be great! Well that's really the essentials. Keep in mind that my device will be brand new, so I'll need to know what Rom or additional software I'll need to install to prepare the phone. Posting videos would be fantastic if possible! Thanks all! Rene |

2. on how to install cab files like quick menu the noob guide from my signature tells you all about that 3. and for skyfire it is a beta that you have to sign up for. |
Re: Step-by-Step Answers on Preparing Your NEW Mogul for the HTC Diamond Interface/Theme
you have to sign up for skyfire. that takes forever to get well at least it took me forever. i signed up in february and didnt get mine till the end of last month. i like it though because i can watch movies/tv shows online which is cool. most of the stuff u download comes with instructions on how to install it. if you still cant figure something out there is most likely someone having the same question and has posted it in one of the forums.

Re: Step-by-Step Answers on Preparing Your NEW Mogul for the HTC Diamond Interface/Theme
I think I'm beginning to get on the right track. I received my new HTC Mogul, charged it, got it activated, and started getting familiar with it. I installed the ActivSync 4.5 Software as the manual suggested but haven't synced the device with my computer because I'm not necessarily sure why I'd want to considering I don't use Microsoft Outlook.
I discovered ThemeGenCE 2.5 through a helpful thread here that includes a great step-by-step tutorial on how to use this nifty theme creating program. Installing the program on my computer (which is where you'll be constructing your theme) was very easy. You can find the software on the web by doing a simple search. I'll be messing with this Baby as soon as I know my phone is ready for modding. Towards that end, I verified through the HTC website (go to the Support link) that my phone has the latest ROM. I'm just not certain yet if I'm running Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1. Any way to find out? I discovered that if you have a Windows Live account (which you do if you have a Hotmail or MSN email address), you can use the phone's included Windows Live Services application to import your email contacts into your phone's Contact List, thus saving you from manually entering every contact you have. I'm still experimenting somewhat with this feature, because I'm not sure what happens when you add, delete, or change information about a contact. Anyone want to share their experience at this? Matt suggested in a previous message here that I could find a lot of step-by-step tutorials on getting my phone prepared and souped up for modding. He said the link was next to his signature, but the only active link near his signature is the "edit signature" link, which isn't it. Is there something wrong with my account? Thank you all for your support as I slowly work my way through getting the Diamond Interface. Yours, Ren |

Re: Step-by-Step Answers on Preparing Your NEW Mogul for the HTC Diamond Interface/Theme
Hi Matt,
If you are refering to the Smart Phone Junkie logo at the end of your messages that has the words "Enter Now" but nothing happens when you click the link, then it's not working or visible to me. If, however, you're talking about clicking your Avatar, then this does take me to what appears might be where you want me to go. As for Windows 6.1, Is there a way to get it? Is it better? So far, I successfully got my Motorola BlueTooth headset to work with my phone. I had difficulty at first because I didn't think the headset needed to be in the Off position before I could begin the pairing process by holding down the headset button until the light on the device stays on, then Immediately activating the "Search for BlueTooth Devices" function on the phone. It worked perfectly. (NOTE: If you're a new user, make certain your phone is set to visible before you attempt to pair your BlueTooth device.) Thanks, Rene |

Matt,
What you are describing does not appear anywhere within this thread; at least not on my IE 7 browser. But clicking your avatar does reveal some useful guides that I'm currently reading. |

Oh, and just to keep everyone abreast of my progress, I successfully used my GPS Sprint Navigation software from Telenav and it worked remarkably well! :yahoo: I also learned how to successfully sync my Windows Live contacts with my phone. It's great! The only thing I don't like is that the phone creates 2 or more entries per person depending on how many numbers you have for that person. For example, if Lauren has a mobile and home number, her name is listed twice. It would be better, I think, to just have one entry that takes you to another screen when you click on it that lists all the different ways you can communicate with that person. Next on my agenda is to configure my email so that I can check my MSN mailbox on my phone without deleting the messages from the server. Is there a special email application I should use? Or does the phone already come with a capable one? |

As for email, I'm still somewhat confused as to how to set it up. Whenever I click the little envelope on the upper left corner of my HTC Mogul, I'm taken to the Messages Screen where I have the option to Send A Text message or Setup An Email Account. When I choose to set up an email account, I'm prompted to enter my email address and password. The problem is that it won't let me sign in, even when I use Internet Explorer and go to Hotmail.com. You mentioned I need to use ActiveSync to set up an account to be able to read my MSN email, but is it necessary to connect my desktop computer as well? Keep in mind that all I want is the ability to check my email through my phone, and perhaps (if it's possible) to be notified through a text message if an email from a particular person has been received. I do not want the messages to be erased from the server because I want to be able to download them to my desktop and have my desktop remove them from the server. Again, I don't want to have my desktop's email synced to my device. I use Incredimail as my email client, not Microsoft Outlook. Can you explain in more detail what I need to do? By the way, Windows Live Messenger was a snap to setup on my phone; I don't understand why setting up the email account has been difficult. Thanks, Rene |

You may post new threads You may post replies You may post attachments You may edit your posts vB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is Off Perhaps the last setting about HTML being Off is the cause of the problem. I'm just guessing. Either way, it doesn't seem important as long as I can continue getting to the right place by clicking on your picture/Avatar. |
