General Wing Questions.
 

Hey Guys, I am looking for a bit of insight here. My oldest is home visiting before returning to Iraq and Thanks to you all we had such a funny visit with us comparing our phones (it seems you have all taught me enough that I can for once know what I am talking about..lol) anyhow he was interested in having me add some new stuff to his HTC Wing.

I am thinking of adding S2U2, S2P to start with along with perastats, no2chem6800 and the quick menu. Am I able to add these for the HTC Wing?

Also, looking at my mogul and his wing, and not having seen the HTC Wing before it looks like his screen has the HTC Launcher. Can I customize that for him just as I were working it on my phone?
Lastly, he would like the custom dial pad that I have on mine. ( I am using the dial pad from this collection here).
Is there anything I need to know before I start working with his (such as conflicts?)
Last thing I want to do is send him over there and not be able to fix his phone so I have two weeks to mod it up for him.
Any insight you can share would be as always most grateful!

1. all will work besides the rom you need a wing custom rom for that.
2. the launcher cannot be customized
3. for the dialers you need to have the big button dialer and you can skin it or use any dialer like the diamond or the iphone dialer...
4. be careful the wing has VERY limited internal space you can install around 4-5 apps before you run out to the main memory that is.

Thank you for the insight D/\SH. I have not gotten comfortable enough to do any rom mods yet and would definitely not do it on someone else's phone first. It is bad enough the kids think I am going to brick my phone any day as it is..lol.

With your last comment on the limited memory, I might just tell him to let me learn a bit more then since I am running at about 4.5-5MB on mine and not happy with that setting.

Have to say i'm a noob when it comes to flashing phone roms but I said what the heck and gave it a try on my wing and honestly it was not really that hard. I have found most of the roms I have used on my wing at (sorry Wckediden) XDA-Developers. Including the factory rom for the wing you should have this rom before you start using custom roms in case you brick your phone. I'm running the OpentouchV3SL rom and have 41 mb storage left not much compared to the mogul but it only has about 50 mb to start with and normally around 18 to 19 mb free for programs with about 10 apps that i put on myself compared to the 14 free with stock wing rom from TMO. Oh and from my experiences don't let your program mb drop below 10 mb or it will slow the phone down like crazy.

Hey, dianeofarcadia. I know this is off subject and I don't know what service your son is in, but tell him from a soldier, HOOAH!

When I went the first time, I went when the war first started (March 03). We didn't have everything that was available now and the only company that was willing to work with my dad so that I could have a phone to use and not stand in a 3 hr line to use the phone was T-Mobile.

I know I was off subject, but all military are family and I hope he makes it home safe too!!!
