Sprint Treo Pro Possible?
Possibly Legitimate Sighting of Treo Pro for Sprint Offers Hope That CDMA Version of This “Super Hot” Smartphone Will Become Available Soon

The lucky few people who have already been able get their hands on the Unlocked Treo Pro know how incredibly cool and powerful this latest smartphone from Palm is.

The present problem is that to experience the Treo Pro you will 1) need to have some $549 to spare and 2) need to have a contract with a GSM carrier such as AT&T.

It’s clear that for the Treo Pro to really take off commercially in the US it will need to become available at a “subsidized” price from wireless carriers – possibly priced as low as $249.

Although there has not yet been a real official statement from Palm, since it operates a GSM network it’s all but certain that AT&T will be the first carrier to release the Treo Pro (hopefully by the end of November at the latest).

However, given the level of excitement surrounding the Treo Pro and based on some previous rumours that Palm has been working on a CDMA version of this smartphone a great many Treonauts have been waiting to hear about any news that either Sprint and/or Verizon might also be on the Treo Pro bandwagon.

It’s impossible to know if the above screenshot is just an elaborate hoax or a real sighting BUT the good news is that for a moment last week a Sprint Treo 850e had apparently been poking its head on DSL Reports with this smartphone tested at 1060kbps with 0.229 seconds latency on the spcsdns.net network (a Sprint domain) using IE Mobile 8.12.

I would personally very much like to think that the above is true and that a Sprint or Verizon Treo Pro will indeed become available soon but I have to admit that until we get to see more meaningful evidence my hopes remain not particularly high – at least not for the immediate future.

In the meantime, if you’re just tired of waiting for any carrier to release the Treo Pro then your best option is to get one right now from either:

The Dell Store currently appears to have the best deal offering the Treo Pro for only $475.99 (before tax of some $20 to $45)
The Palm Store has an offer (valid until 10/22) of $30 Off all orders of $120 or more (use coupon code THIRTYOFF at checkout) so the Treo Pro can be yours for only $519.99 instead of $549.99.

thanks for the update :> if sprint does get this i may try to see what it is all about again. i really like the way the device looks and the specs on it :> my only other windows palm and palm period was the 700 WX and i must admit thatthe stock rom was awesome and never needed to be updated once (wasnt even a rom update for it) so i might just have to look into this if/wen sprint decides to pick it up and see how the device works... the only thing that im worried about is the square screens and the lack of apps and hacks
