AHH I am sooo lost please help

Hello, I am new to the forums here on Wckediden.com, and I am very excited to be a member of this community, but I have run into the most frustrating dead end I have ever encountered in all my years of owning a cell phone. Any help would be appreciated...

I recently bought an HTC Mogul from a friend of mine(I was soo pumped). He had the phone flashed to cricket. So I did my research and flashed the phone back to the Sprint interface. Now, when I tried to switch my current Sprint service and number over to the Mogul, the Sprint tech told me that the ESN was being used and/or is non-usable. Not knowing what that meant I called my friend back and told him and he told me had cancelled his service 2 months ago... I have been searching high and searching low for an answer. Ive downloaded programs I dont know how to use(CDMA Workshop and so on..). I just want to get my number to work on the Mogul.. I love this phone and could use any help u may offer.

I currently have an LG Rumor if that helps at all...

HELP!!! lol

to be honest there's nothing much you can do..with my experience it'll take about 3 to 4 months for the esn to be clear so it can be re-used again.I do this all the time when my friends failed to pay there bills and the carrier cut there services and in return i buy there phones, and the esn will stay active till the bill is payed if full. I think There's been changes, but that i don't know.

The only thing you can do is buy a new one under you name...and illuminate all that drama...or just wait till the esn be clear for re-use.

Is that a viable option?

I believe wcked is correct...but how did your friend cancel his service...was still under contract and cancel his service, and if so did he pay his bills of...or was he just out of contract already and just going month to month and cancel his service....also I know that you said it was a mogul...but I just want to make sure since it was flashed with another service that it was not a 6800 with another carrier, so does the carrier logo on the phone say Sprint or something else, just want to know....and lastly you asked about esn swapping...well to put it in lay-mans terms...the esn is a sort of serial numbers that cdma carriers like Sprint, Verizon, and many other cdma carriers use to switch service from phone to phone...as supposed to the quick switch of a sim card which is what only GSM carrier like AT&T and T-Mobile use along with other gsm carriers...but in order for sprint to switch your service over from one phone to another they input that esn numbers and it sends your service to that phone...hope that explains it to you...esn swapping is not some big mysterious thing that will help you....it just the process that you need to do to switch phones on your sprint account....but when the person with the carrier told you that it is being used.or unusable than they have already tried to switch the esn on your account with this new phones esn and that is what the computer told them

It was a Qwest phone before it was flashed to Cricket then I flashed it to Sprint. I he told me he bought the phone on Ebay before he had it flashed to Cricket. I have read things about people manually doing the data swap themselves. I didn't know if that was a viable option for me without the use of the middle man(Sprint tech support).

i dont think that you are going to be able to use that phone on your contract with sprint..... you might get lucky and get a nice rep though..... but talk to your buddy and make sure that the bill is paid off (basically like having a hold on the phone) and if hes stil with them make sure they clear it from the system... (cricket) i had to do this with sprint before even though the phone was deactivated for weeks.

you just did a double post of the same exact words...come on man...we can't be doing that...but what I will say is exactly what Dash said especially since this phone is seeing so many carriers,lol...if your buddy was able to use it on cricket...than make sure he has them clear the device of their network...
