Battery & Performance hacks - all cabbed up for my friends
 

with all the flashing of roms and what not i figured i would share my cab.[/COLOR]

this all started on the Q but works on many WM devices. i have been running it on my mogul for quite a while. works great.

Speed Hacks

These have been posted elsewhere but the 3rd one listed here is never mentioned and often left out. A shame since it seems to have the most effect!

The following 3 hacks increase system performance and makes the Q more responsive:

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
Changed limit from 16384 to 32768

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS
Changed - CacheSize to 4096

(NEW!) Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\StorageManager\Filters\f sreplxfilt
Change “ReplStoreCacheS ize” dword decimal value to 4096 or 8192 (edit: I find 4096 best, g-funk finds 8192)

Battery Life

A couple of us have tested this and found a nice increase in battery life. On my Treo 700 it seemed to do nothing but on the Q it greatly helped (I ran for 12 hours yesterday push email in a low signal environment and stayed at 4 bars battery--normally would have been at 2 or 3)

Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:0

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:0

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:0

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerMan agement”=dword:0

in the zip file below is a cab. move it to your device and tap to install. remember to wait one minute for reg changes to take effect and then do a soft reset.

Great Posting! And you are most definately right to have this out with all of these new roms and performance enhancements out there. Some people just don't realize that they are sacrificing memory and serious drains on their battery to make their devices work at peak performance levels.

so we would install the cab file and all those effects would just take place or we have to install the cab file then go through the registry and all that to get the battery life better and the other things... thanxs

...and would this and the internet sharing hack work on the stock 6.1? a friend wants to keep his stock but be able to make his batt last longer and b able to tether with np.

yes as long as he installs the tethering cab file for it he will be fine

nice,,, just finished installing my new 4 gig sd card and doing a hard reset to smooth out the kinks and improve performance... with the addition of these hacks... im expecting some pretty sweet improvments in my stability and overall performance...can't wait; thanks for this D/\sh...much respect!

Thank you so much for this release! I just swapped my mogul for a new one and im constantly playin with the thing so I decided to download this cab for the stock 6.1 rom. I now only have to charge my phone once a day! Dash is the man and Wckediden is the sh*t! Keep up the good work fellaz!

wee what rom are you running? did you make all the necessary changes? did they stick in the registry (go back in and check) did you soft reset after the change.
