Text Messages Alerts - Probably a Totally Stupid Question

I can't for the life of me figure out how to enable a sound/vibration alert for new texts. :\ I have it set to play a sound under "Sounds & Notifications," and even after double and triple checking to make sure it didn't rest itself, and soft resetting the phone and then checking, it isn't actually doing anything when I get a message. Am I just stupid, or is this impossible?

Go to Settings and in the first tab(Personal) go to "Sounds and Notifications." Go to the second tab in there which says Notifications and change the Event to "New Text Message" and make sure you have the box that says play sound checkmarked and if you want it to vibrate just checkmark the last box that says vibrate. If that's the same thing that you did, then I have no idea sorry!

thats the only thing that i can think of too....... unless you have a third party app like phonealarm than you would set it up through that.

Hey guys, Great site and thanks for the support.

This is strange, I'm having the same problem.

under Sound and notification > new text message > play sound ( checked) > OK

I get no audible alert when I recieve a text...
only the keypad lights up
wierd??

I have a few tweaks on my phone the BadBoy8813 Audio Fix/Audio enhancment, figured it might fix this problem . ( for incall, speaker, and bluetooth). ----> no resolution
Battery and performance
NetCFv3.5

My ROM version: 1.03.651.3
ROM date: 9/12/08
These are the stock Sprint HTC touch pro ROMs.

Is there anyway to possibly fix this, but editing the registry? I have the editor but no idea what to change.

Thannks Cheers

i highly doubt that it would be a registry change. i would try to perform a hard reset and than if the same problem occurs you know that it is a hardware problem.... you hasve the best buy model which are known to have problems..... than if ti does fix it install all your cabs one by one and soft reset than test to see if it works.... than if ti stops you know the culprit.

Yeah maybe try a hard reset. I used those same fixes/programs that u listed and i never ran into that problem. If you are comfortable with it, I would suggest flashing to JD or Y4J's rom anyways since they are much alot faster and add some extra programs in which are nice.
