battery heat up question

Today I had a fully charged battery went into my car plugged my car charger in and it showed it was charging. I used the sprint navigation for about 20 minutes and when I got a call about 10 minutes later noticed that my battery had drained to about 60%. Nothing else was running just sprint nav while charger was plugged into phone. I thought I read somewhere where this has an auto cut off feature if phone gets to a certain temperature. Can anybody confirm this? Is my phone defective? If this is the case can it be fixed with a reg edit and is it recommended to even do that if so. I know I just spewed out a bunch and I sincerely appreciate any insight into this problem. Thanks

I suggest you go with a custom rom

I also reccommend going for a custom rom as they usually help out with battery life. I am using Y4J's rom with 24 MB pagepool and have noticed a pretty good increase in battery life. As far as the battery not charging, I believe the phone does have an auto-shutoff feature when it gets to a certain temperature to prevent permanent damage.

you could try the custom rom but what task manager are you using to close the apps? ive noticed that x button doesnt always work so i use quick menu...... also make sure that the wifi and bluetooth are off when not using as well as the beam feature since that drains the battery like mad.....
