ROM Upgrade
I don't wanna be a pain in the rear or sound like a noob, but when it comes to smart phones, I'm brand new lol.
I have a Verizon Touch; stock rom. I wanted to load Kaos' Touch Hybrid ROM but I'm a little confused. I already backed everything up, I'm just confused on what to do; I have read the guides and understand them but I wasn't sure wether I could just unlock; run the NBH file from the RUU folder and be done or since it's a GPS Rev A Rom do I have to do something different? Like I said I'm new so I'm a noob I know, but I just don't wanna fry my phone lol Thanks for the help. |

Re: ROM Upgrade
I've been doing computer for 20+ years and have flashed stock roms on a number of treos and palm in the past. However, those were all using the supplied upgrades from the manufacturer.
So, I feel your pain as you decide whether or not to flash a custom rom. My main hesitation was that I wanted to be sure I had a stock rom to go back to in case things went bad. Then I read the flashing tutorial in D/\sh's sig. And I read it again. And then one more time for good measure. Followed everything in there just like he laid it out and flashed without any problem. Just make sure you read everything until you are certain you understand all the steps and you'll be fine. |
Re: ROM Upgrade
Yeah follow the 1st instructions and if you neen to go back to your stock rom they should have it here also

Re: ROM Upgrade
Ok, I followed everything, and now when it starts up it just stays at the first boot screen, is it totally screwed over or is there something I can do?

Re: ROM Upgrade
Ok cool, but here's the thing lol, my phones not starting up is it bricked? It hits the first boot screen and the red numbers/letters come up they go away and it goes no further

Re: ROM Upgrade
It was bricked, but I managed to fix it, I realized I was just an idiot and didn't install the Sprint ROM before installing the new ROM from Kaos... just a quick question though, anyone know if Kaos' ROM is supposed to look a lot different than the origonal stock cause it doesn't have the big clock or anything like before; just wondering if that was something I messed up or if it's supposed to be that way...
Another thing is now it won't connect to activesync; any clue why? |
Re: ROM Upgrade
Since you have now flashed to kaos' rom, you should probably ask questions specific to that rom over in that thread. That way he will see it and anyone else experiencing that will also see it explained there.

Re: ROM Upgrade
Well, I think something went wrong because it doesn't look like a ROM; I got it to start up but the problem is it's so flat looking and I know that's now how it should look... I've tried switching to a new ROM with pics but that looks the same way, blank;
Also, everything comes up unable to authencate your phone, when I try to make calls, ect ect, anyone know where to get the verizon stock rom at? |

Re: ROM Upgrade
Ok, fixed everything now, at least I hope.
Re-Flashing to Kaos rom now and here's the problem. The RUU linked to the Touch in D^SH's post is not for the XV6900; so it kept installing the .nbh wrong. Other issue was just the A-Key gotta call VZW Support for that now Thanks for all the help guys. |
