Alltell Mogul freezing
 

Hey guys,
I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem but I could use some help. Every once in a while (completely randomly) my mogul does some really strange things. If I am using it when it happens, the screen goes dim like I havent touched it in a minute. The start menu turns the stock aqua color (even though my theme is black), and no programs will open (HTC Home and UL function, though). When I try to open on via ultimate launch or qucikmenu I get an error message reading: "Windows cannot open the program, Either one of the components cannot be found, or it is not signed with a trusted certificate." If I am not using it when it happens, when I turn the screen on it is the enter password screen, usually on the enter a1b2c3 part, and after I enter a1b2c3, no password works, even if I have a password set. The only fix for this is a soft reset. I cannot send or receive texts or calls when this is happening, and only sometimes retain the missed calls or messages. I am currently running the Kaos Hybrid take 3 Alltell version, but I had the same problem with the stock alltel rom, Kaso f**k sprint rom, and Kaos Hybrid Take (which is awesome but I couldnt get alltel mms to work because it is sprint version, i think). I would appreciate any help or ideas that anyone has. I have a feeling, though, that it is an internal problem with the phone since it has happened on multiple roms. I would even consider sending it off to one of you pros out there for a fee, if you think you may be able to fix it.

Well take it to a local store or give them a call but i dont really know how alltel works but thats what id suggest

I didnt buy the phone from alltel so I dont have insurance or anything. Im on my own so I figured if anyone here could fix it Id trust them more than anyone else.

to me it sounds as if something in the phone is out of whack and should be fixed fine. when you went back to stock did you relock? when you went to custom did you unlick with the coke 2.40 bootloader and than after flash take the battery out and hard reset?

Well, actually I started on the stock alltel and when I had the problem I flashed to Kaos F**k Sprint and then to the other ones back and forth and decided to stick with the hybrid take 3. And yes I unlocked with the coke 2.40 bootloader, flashed to stock sprint and then to custom. I havent tried to flash back to stock alltel mostly bcause that rom sucked. Do you do repairs Dash?

Oh and yea I pulled out te battery for a minute and hard resetted for the 6mb page pool to take effect.

huh yes i do repairs on the phone......... dont know why it would still be doing it.... i would recommend talking to kaos first since it is his rom and he would know how to do the repair better than i would

Ok well does it sound like something fixable?...and also should I pm Kaos or just wait until he comes across this thread?

I got my 6800 from ebay and Ive had it replaced twice through insurance.

the only way that you can is if you havent been using the phone for 30 days.

Well that sucks...ive had it for like 5 months. Is that a sprint thing or what?...because I have alltel...

no all places give you a 30 day trial on the phone and the option to bring it back if you dont like it.

I to have the same problem on one of my moguls and I work at alltel.Asked my manager about it and she said it was covered under warranty but neither of us could figure out why it was like that.Im running the new GPS alltel rom but ive had the problem since i got the phone.As far as insurance goes if your on the Alltel smartphone data plan as you should be activate your insurance then you have a thirty day waiting period before you can claim the phone for the 99 dollar deductible.

right but you can still add insurance to the phone without troubles... they cant prove that you purchased off of ebay and not from a store. you jsut have to do it within the first 30 days correct? or are you different from sprint

Well, what if I am just on a regular phone plan and not the smartphone plan? Will it allow me to still activate the insurance. Also, I called the insurance company for alltel and there is no limit to when you can get the insurance on the phone. I told them I've had it for like 5 months.

Oh and hey Dash, I pmed Kaos a few weeks ago and he never got back to me. I know hes busy so would you be interested in trying to fix it because im not sure this insurance thing will work out. Or do you think this is an unfixable problem?

The first post in this thread. I've actually figured out that it definitely has something to do with memory. When it is in this state it shows that 97.01mb out of 97.25mb of RAM is being used (I know it only has 32 so thats weird) and there is a little sliding bar for memory allocation which when I try to move it it says no more memory can me allocated at this time. The program folder shows up as empty as does the personal and connections tabs of the settings (all in quick menu). Its weird that Ultimate launch and quick menu still work but any other program I try to run it cannot me found or theres not enough memory. Its getting to where this happens multiple times a day, especially when it is charging. I was able to get it to go back to normal yesterday by disabling everything on my today screen (just ultimate launch) and I found some setting where I dismissed registry (whatever that means), but when I was trying to check out the memory the phone soft reset itself. Its starting to really drive me crazy so anything you think you could do would be highly appreciated. I really want to upgrade to the touch pro but I cant really afford it at this time, and without insurance I doubt alltel will budge on a free one. But thanks for any and everything that you do, and if anyone has a pro for sale or anything let me know.

well i would say get off of the stock rom and go custom to give yourself some more ram.... and ultimate launch shouldnt do it by itself... are you closing out of all the apps after your done and not just minimizing?thats all i can really think of....... i would try going custom where you have more memory to work with and see where that takes you :>

I am on custom, kaos hybrid take 3 altell version. Ive tried all of them. Its not the rom. It happens everynight i charge my phone, I know when I wake up ill have to reset to see if ive missed calls. I never really run any programs, only the today pugins. Every time I do open one...I close it through quickmenu...Ive even tried running no plugins or programs (after a soft reset) and let it sit on the charger, and it hppens sometimes, or it dosent. I never am really low on memory, just in this weird state it acts like i am. Sorry but im frustrated and i appreciate all that you guys do, but this is driving me nuts...ill try to record what happens and post it on youtube if that will explain my problem better.
