Theme Modding - theme creation

Hi All

OK, I know this has probably been asked and answered a million times... somewhere... I've searched these forums and others and just cannot find the answer.

I want to MOD my Touch Diamond. On the boards here for Touch Diamond themes there are a few great themes, but what do I need to make a '.theme' file? I have ThemeGenCE but that only lets me make a .TSK file and I don't want that (I don't think). I particularly just want to change the appearance of the icons and the clock of the basic HTC Touch Diamond interface.

I've tried using a piece of soaftware called the HTC Home Customizer but as far as I can work out this doesn't actually work on the Touch Diamond... It will install and appear to let me change the settings, but on exit nothing is changed.

So, at the risk of ridicule and of being called a n00b, can anyone please tell me:

What do I need to make a .Theme file for my diamond!?

Thanks in advance ;)

im going to move this thread to the correct spot since this is a touch pro question and not a touch one... but anyways first of all the home customizer if for qvga devices not vga so that wont work on top of it beign for a different plugin. (htc home plugin) as ray said ytou want touchflo 3d config tool 0..6.7...... and too make the themes for it you will need photoshop skills and have to do each image individually...... once you have all the files does (1014) you drag them all into a zip folder and than right click on that and go to rename and simply rename the extension to .theme

Aha... So basically to get me started all I really need to do is take an existing .theme file, change it to a ZIP, have a poke around and see what's required, then make all my own graphics.

I already do have TF3D Config obviously - that's how I've been installing downloaded .theme files so far, I just didn't know how to actually CREATE them, so thank you very much D/\SH! Hopefully I'll be able to post my first theme soon.

Cheers again. :boxing:

*sigh* OK, all that bravado and I now have to ask another question... If you answer this for me I promise to have n00b added to my sig...

Using your 'rename to zip' suggestion I've opened the original HTC Black .theme file - and another one that I downloaded too, to make sure I wasn't going mad - but I can't see all the graphics that I should, surely, be able to see.

For instance, all the Icons from the 'slider' (Home, Messages, Contacts, Launcher etc). Neither can I see the clock numbers. I can see a few PNG files, and a BMP or two, and then hundreds of un-suffixed files which are numbers followed by '_manilla'. But none of the graphics files I can see contacin the bits I actually want to change.

Am I missing something here? Your help is greatly appreciated!

hehe :)

Hope he can help then... although, I have found something called Manila Editor (or something equally unambiguous) which I believe will help me to edit the icon and clock files... will keep you posted if you're remotely interested!

and please dont pm me, it states that in the rules very clearly.... and thats for the htc home plugin only and not touchflo like you were saying in your pm and you cant have touchflo 3d on your touch since you dont have the drivers so you dont have the alienware theme on there tf3d version..... i would suggest reading through some of the vogue section and also read through flashing roms and finding what is right for you
