TurboBoost - Ram Emulator
Hey guys.
I've recently gotten a 6700 on metroPCS (upgrading from my 6600 that I couldn't get activated...) and I've put all the 6.1 goodies on it. Any time I try to run Opera, I get out of memory errors. With Vista, MS started doing TurboBoost - or something like that - where it would use any USB flash drive as "extended ram" My terminology might not be right - but that should give you a basic idea of what I'm thinking... Since the main drawback of both the 6700 and (from what I hear) the 6800 mogul is the lack of ram available, would creating something like this for use with the SD cards be possible? I understand the drawbacks - the device would probably slow down a little - as ram is faster than the SD bandwidth... Running programs from the SD card while using the RAM emulator would double the SD card transfer needs... But I'm sure there are some good temporary uses for this kind of program... Like... say... when I'm running Opera from internal storage; ;) Any ideas? I don't have a clue how to do this - I'm not a programmer - but I think it'd give the 6700 a whole new level of functionality. Thanks! Kalash |

I haven't tried the new ones. I also haven't tried it with the java built into the system... I should just go that route huh? You're no fun =P (So I take it a memory app like that isn't plausible - especially for some giddy geeky kid like me to just run opera? :p) |

I don't think anything like this has been developed yet for WinMo PPCs. It would take quite a bit of work.

Teasing me like this... Does that mean it's POSSIBLE? Because with 16 gig microSD cards.... That's a LOT of potential "soft"ram and storage. I think there are a lot of people that would worship you for working on this. (More than already do.) Meanwhile - I cooked up another rom that's a little cleaner (I only miss a few of the extras...) - and so far so good. Thanks for getting my hopes up. ;) I'll keep waiting patiently. ~K |

Well... If it's possible, it'll happen sometime. If not - I'm sure you'll find out. |
