Speed Up Your Keyboard (Fixes Lag On Hardware Keyboard)
Tired of your keyboard givinga ous entencesl iket his? Well here's the cure. This cab is a simple registry edit which will speed up the typing on your hardware keyboard.

1) Download attached file
2) Install the cab
3) Soft reset
4) Enjoy

Credit goes to JohnJonsten for the fix

Here is the registry entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd

"InitialDelay"=dword: dec 775

"RepeatRate"=dword: dec 23

Other Fixes (By Request):

1) Use the Disable xt9 cab

2) Set suggested words to a lower number (personally I set it to 0)

3) Disable auto-correction of words.

Is this any different from the update htc put out? Or can we install this on top of that? Would it help?

You must add code wrap to outside links. I added it for you this time. You have enough posts to know that the code wrap is needed bud. Please remember in the future.

Re: Speed Up Your Keyboard (Fixes Lag On Hardware Keyboard)

I have been running the registry all day and it seems to be a little bit faster now....even though the touch pro already has a fast response....anyways i think ill mess around with the numbers and see what i like best...

Most likely, I think this was more useful for the older phones ex.mogul, kaiser etc...

I know when I had my mogul I would have loved this tweak as it was slow.........

Re: Speed Up Your Keyboard (Fixes Lag On Hardware Keyboard)

This tweak is amazing for the mogul! I just tried typing a little to check if it works and I was amazed. I'm a pretty fast typer and the phone was only 1 letter behind what I typed in at the most. Most of the time it was dead on what I was typing in. Just if anyone was curius I installed on the device. I'll post back later tonight to let you know how its working.

yes just install the cab...... all the registry string was showing is what he changed and cabbed up for easy install.... if someone wanted to they could do it manually with a registry editor

Re: Speed Up Your Keyboard (Fixes Lag On Hardware Keyboard)

Dash- I was looking for some advice from you about this. I have changed the registry to the required -

Here is the registry entry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
"InitialDelay"=dword: dec 775
"RepeatRate"=dword: dec 23

My problem is that the screen is still WAY behind my keyboard typing. I am done typing something on the actual keybaord and still have to watch the screen catch up.
Is there a registry setting or hack you (or anyone) can suggest for very fast keyboard typers like me. I basically only use the hardware keyboard and none of the on screen ones and it can never keep up with my typing.

Thank you in advance for any assistance or direction you can offer.

well after a while of use that is normal especially if you have a lot of text messages and emails stored.

did you try to soft reset after clearing them for it to recalculate everything? also it may sound crazy but this effects speed too.... take your sd card out and dreag all the contents you want ot the the desktop pc. than format the card to a fresh FAT32 format and addd the apps and place back in your phone and you shuld notice a differnece...... just be sure not to restore anytthing lie program files folder or windows folder since those were made for a previous rom the registry and such on the casrd can mess with the device sloewing it down since it cant find what it is looking for..... some say to do this after every major rom change like cook wise.... i do it when i notice it and hasnt let me down thus far
