ok, this is the new touch ROM that Dash suggested I flash to, to see if it will clear up some of the issues I'm having with my new touch? There's no comments here about it, so I'm wondering if anyone has downloaded and run it yet, I know it just released yesterday though. So maybe I will wait a few days and see what the comments are?

REGARDLESS of what KAOS says this rom is amazing. I have been using it for a couple days now and it is awesome. It's runs sooooo smooth. I have had no known issues but am still trying out all options for this rom. I didn't mean any disrespect to you KAOS by what I said above. I understand why you would be upset but a good rom is a good rom.

If you cannot or dont want to get a touch diamond or pro, then this ROM is the next best thing to it on the Vogue. It is awesome. Im sorry I dont know about Kaos comments, thought they are respected, still this is the ROM to have no matter where it came from. The beta ROM on this one is more stable than a previous custom ROM is was using. Its quick, it has all you need, and you have alot of memory left to add customized programs although to be honest there is not really much needed to add to this. Im very happy with this.

i think so, it's still showing alltel 1.01 version, and i got the version 1.02 already downloaded from his previous post, where he said he couldn't get it updated in the first post.

I flashed to this ROM last nite, still NO gps!! I don't want to trash this thread re: my GPS, so I will go back to my original post and post my findings.

hey angie. I had no issues locking on to the gps. If you go to programs/system tools/ then start GPS viewer and click on scan it will scan all available ports on your phone. It should come up with com port 1 and baudrate 4800.

I flashed to this ROM last night and it didn't fix my GPS issue, so I flashed back to the Dette Rom for the touch. I've been doing some research, and I can't find anything that says the TOUCH has the built in GPS receiver, DOES IT? Because that's like the error message I'm getting with EVERY rom I flash too, and when I flashed back to the Alltel OEM ROM, there's NO google maps only ALLTEL NAV. which you have to pay for. but I thought since I've unlocked and flashed to custom rom that it would "open that up" so to speak?

again..........DOES THE TOUCH HAVE BUILT IN GPS RECEIVER? wondering if it's my location area if they just don't offer the built in GPS receiver in my area?????

IF IT DOES, what do I need to do? flash back to original rom and call Alltel with this problem? b/c I've already done that and got a lame a** woman who said I needed to pay for that type service, for the GPS to work on locating my device and my location???????

I use my gps all the time on there. Did you flash the bell rom first? If not try flashing the stock bell rom located at htc.com. Yes the bell rom not sprint. Run the RUU and the do a soft reset after it installs and before it runs the customization. That will give you the most up to date radio then install this rom.

Thermas, does it matter that I'm on Alltel network, flashing to Bell Rom? Also, do I need to flash back to the OEM Alltel 6.1 STOCK ROM BEFORE flashing to the Bell Rom?????? Just want to make sure, seems like ALOT of trouble to "just" get the GPS to work? I can't really take this up with Alltel, b/c this is not an option that is supposed to be free, right? Stock Alltel rom only has the Alltel Nav??

GREAT release i got it on my flashed touch on metro PCS .
i have 1 question how do i get to the settings like when you dial ##778# dosent work on this rom ?

Use the phone codes under Start>Programs>System Tools>Phone. Typing in ##788# doesn't work, Use the phone codes.
The unlock code is your MSL ID code. You need a program to generate that code based off your ESN#. The program you need is locate here http://www.wckediden.com/showthread....ht=MSL%2A+code

I found this great tool BAF MSL Grabber gave me my unlock code very easy to use WOOT. I used it to setup my Data settings.

try that .

but other than that , I can't seem to get GPS to find any sats . :(

i was thinking the same thing unless metropcs did like verizon did to alltel and lock down the gps for their version of telenav only.

may be i dont have the correct settings?
I have the web working I seen the GPS Viewer app it told me the gps was on port com 4 bitrate 4800 etc to I tired to get google maps to find the gps birds its say seeking sat for ever so i dont know whats up ? any help would be great

on any gps the first time that you run the app it can have a hard time picking up the gps satellites..... i would go outside on a clear day and see if you can get it to reach.... inside you can usually do after you connect outside for the first time.

Maybe this will help.......... I know your not verizon but this freed up the verizon gps...............

VERIZON WIRELESS PEOPLE LOOKING TO GET THEIR GPS WORKING WITH THIS ROM:

The following steps if followed exactly will get the GPS working, as this is what worked for me tonight...read through all of this before you start because there are some things that need to be clarified...you'll be sent to a couple different places, but don't follow their instructions exactly...keep looking back to these steps, and read ahead.

1) Follow the instructions located here, http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?t...IX_VERIZON_GPS. However on step #4 use the official Verizon release with radion 3.77.78 located here, http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downl...zon%20Wireless. The links to the things needed for steps 1 through 3 are right next to the instructions, just click on the number and it will download. The best way to make sure the customs don't run is to not tap the screen when it says 'Tap the screen to begin setting up your device' or whatever. Just continue to the next step. MAKE SURE NEITHER ONE OF THESE ROMS INSTALLS CUSTOMS, if you do it won't work.

2) Once you have flashed the official Verizon ROM and are sitting at the 'Tap the screen...etc' go ahead and flash with NFSFAN's new 1.12 VZW ROM.

3) When the NFSFAN ROM is installed go ahead and setup the device and let the customizations run. Once it reboots, follow steps number 1-15 on the XDA wiki located here, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T DO STEP #16, if you do it won't work.

4) After the phone reboots, which is step 15, continue on with steps 17 & 18... REMEMBER SKIP STEP #16.

5) Once you completed step #18, go ahead and dial *228 and choose option #1. When the lady says everything was successful and says goodbye give it a second and go ahead and soft reset.

6) When the phone reboots you will be good to go... either open GPS Viewer and set COM4 and hit OPEN GPS or just open Google Maps and choose USE GPS...make sure you are outside or near a window...it will locate satellites and lock within about 30 seconds.

7) At this point you will need to have your phone re-authenticated by Verizon Wireless... easiest way to do this is call #8899 which is Mobile Security division...just tell them you need to have your phone re-authenticated and it takes them about a minute or two. All you need is the mobile telephone # usually.

I know this may seem like a lot of work, but it can all be done in less then an hour depending on your skill level and such. I've tried to make this as clear as possible for everyone else that is having these problems. If you have any questions let me know, but this WILL get your GPS working with NFSFAN's ROM if followed to the T. This worked on both my fiances phone and mine, of which neither would be able to get GPS on these ROMs before. Good luck...now get to flashing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/imag...es/biggrin.gif

this is from someone over at xda (I DIDN'T DO THIS) I have no issues.........

After flashing NFSFAN Telus rom v1.05, I couldn't get any satellite, so I installed the DCD carrier cab (mine been Telus) and after a reboot, my Vogue detected 10 sats in less than 15 sec. Carrier cabs available here.

I did the 2nd one it just rest my metro data settings back to sprint :P rrrrrrrrr and i had to change it back . 1st is a lot to do , im happy with Data working GPS would have been a sweet bonus. thanks.

just flashed my old touch with the verizon version for my friend and i didnt do all the extra xda steps and i got a lock with gps viewer in 15secs here , no prob! ( phone isnt activated yet so i cant test google , but it picked right up in gps viewer ) hmmm

rom is nice btw!

First of all I didn't steal anything from him and claimed it as my own. You have no idea what you are talking about. All I did was take a free application, that he made, and changed the nueUSB to USB2PC, to match the name of the old one. I didn't remove his name from it. If you go in the about menu of that application, you will clearly see it says no2chem, and his website.

I personally only used NFSfan roms on my HTC Touch and they are kick ass, esp for us Canadians. I'm glad to see they are posted here since there is no issue with anything created on this site, I think we can leave that up to the site that had a issue. Really Juicy's rom was posted here the entire time ppcgeeks removed it.

Just my 2 cents worth, I have done a few joint little projects with NFSFan and he is a smart guy and was fine to talk to...quite helpfull, I truely don't think there was any purposefull underhanded things going on there.
