TvOut- Not just for Pro Anymore

1 Attachment(s)
Good news. I found the magic registry hack. With the hack, all that is needed is the original -unmodified- multi-adapter that came with the Touch Pro/diamond and a cheap camcorder/ipod 3.5mm AV cable

Go to
\HKLM\Software\HTC\H2W\TVOutCableIn
and change D_WORD from 0 to 1

Immediately after it is modified, the Video Out format selection will pop-up. Select the proper format for your display/TV, and it should immediately show up on the big screen in beautiful color with perfect sound.

When you disconnect the multi-adapter, the value of the registry entry will revert to 0.

Now, if some enterprising member would like to create a little exe that will toggle the registry value, there are going to be some _really_ happy campers.

HAHA no not me this time.....but some guy over at ppcgeeks said he tried and it work no problem.......the cab may have created the strings to run the out feature but idk....try it on ur mogul to confirm if you dont mind....but im pretty stoked about this and cant wait to test myself....

Quote from the mogul user: I was watching Youtube on my TV last night within 15 seconds of trying the hack for the first time.

Ok so there definitely are different video pinouts. So not all 3.5mm video cables will work...if your doesnt seem to work try flippin the red and yellow cables and see if it does....Standard 3.5 to avi cables should work...(like the cheap ones from Target....only 5 bucks) but custom designed ones like for ipod or car stero ect may have a different effect. So DONT get bummbed if you try and it doesnt seem to work....devine an conquer people, try a different set and you'll see!

Here is a retractable pair for under 5 bucks......good for on the go

Tried this out few days before you posted this when I first saw it on PPCGeeks, so I've already tested this and confirming that it does work.

I guess one issue is that you need to use an iPod Video Cable as those are the ones that seem to work the best and what many are saying all around. It has to do with the pin connections on the 3.5 mm side.

Code:

http://www.dynexproducts.com/p-369-dynex-6-av-cable-for-apple-ipod-with-video.aspx
That's the one I used since it came with my iPod Dock. No issues and worked right off the bat.

Using the Touch Pro for Sprint.

EDIT: Another thing, go with NTSC as that's the format over here in the US.
