Wont Connect To my Wifi
 

Ok, so i already searched an didnt find anything that would help me with my problem. When i go to connect to my wifi it comes back and says that i cant connect to it, check my internet provider. I know my internet is working because obviously i'm on it. my laptop connects to the router just fine and my phone sees my router, it just wont connect to it. Any ideas to help me out guys?

I was always under the impression the wii tests for connection speed and if it is not fast enough it will just come back as a failure and won't connect.

I have tried connecting mine to my wii and ps3 both with similiar results. If there is a way it could be done i'd like to know as well.

As a matter of fact I just tried this the day before yesterday when I was modding my wii and seen that it called for an "active internet connection". I ended up disreguarding that step when I learned that my version number was already at 3.2u and I just went ahead and kept installing things instead of having to downgrade my wii (which is what you use the active connection for anyways).

This is of course you are talking about using your phone as a wifi router of course and not just talking about using cable internet or something....

Maybe I'm just reading in between the lines to much.

well, your internet has nothing to do with your wi-fi, if there arent any routers with unlocked security around, you wont get a wi-fi connection....... what exactly are you trying to do. use your phone as router, or use the wi-fi feature on your phone?

I have a router, its what i use for my internet around the house, my laptop is connected to it. I dont have a password on my router, its open so anyone can access it. an i know thats not good to have it like that, but we do, so yeah...but i was just trying to connect to it and use the internet on my phone from my home internet via the router. but my phone wont connect to my router. I can browse the web fine on my phone without it, but i still want to be able to connect in a hotspot an all.

ohh okay, i see. did you turn your data off? and you have a pro right?

My data connection is off, but i dont think i can turn it on, its in gray. and yes, i have the pro

what you mean you cant turn your data on? thats not right..... are you on a custom rom? because the wifi works on my pro just fine, so i dont know what could be the cause in your end. try flashing a custom rom and see if that fixes the issue. if you do, i will recomend you get PIMbackup so you dont lose all your contacts, texts, mail, ect.

Well, i have alltell, No custom rom yet. planning too but i just got the phone today and have started on that stuff yet. I'm also on the phone at the moment but i'm pretty sure when i checked it, it was grayed out and i couldnt turn it on. but i'll let you all know as soon as i get off the phone and check for sure. Thanks for all the help so far yall.

there are alltel roms, what do you mean? here this is the newest i think, and it supports alltel as you can see

I was just letting you know i have alltell, not trying to say anything by it, just stating it. And I havent looked for roms to download yet bc i just got my phone today, but if thats the only way to fix it that can be found then i'll do it sooner. I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem like this and knew of a fix.

you could always try a hard reset and if after that it doesnt work still i would bring it into the alltel store and get it swapped out.

ohh i thought you said there WERENT any alltel custom roms, lol. but like i said, it should work normally, but you are gonna flash anyways, so why not start now, lol. it will take your phone to a different level! read up on the flash tuturials thou.

lol yeah, just a misunderstanding. Thanks alot for the help. I've read alittle on flashing roms ealier today, but i'm definately gonna research it alot more tonight before i dive into it. Thanks again for the help.
