Hi all,

I have a feeling that this topic has been discussed before and although I hate posting threads that are repeats or annoying to Wckediden users, this is the last resort.

Basically what I am after is a fix for the lag with the TP. Especially in opening programs and opening/closing the screen (using Swcked Mobile Shell 3)

After a thorough search I have read about fllashing my phone as a common fix for ths problem, but I am happy with everything I have on my phone right now and want to leave it that way (stock ROM). I checked out Dash's advice about moving as much as I can to the storage card and did so without any improvement. I read about the HTC Performance that Kaos provides but it is only for the Touch. I have also made a few adjustments in Advanced Config under the performances tab as suggested in a few places.

Searching for similar problems usually results in thousands of hits and when I try to define it better noting is found. Any help from those who had the same problem or those who are more technologically sound than I would be greatly appreciated.

Theres a thread basically for all touch pro best mods and tweaks it here in Wckediden..hopefully this will work, by the way still custom is the best way to speed up your pro.

Sometimes the answer to your problems like in this instance (lag), is the "thousands" of answers already provided to you. CUSTOM. If that won't work for you, then you might have to throw out your Pro. Although going custom is basically "throwing away" your stock and inferior ROM. Good luck.

sadly, even though you are happy with your setup. your stock-bloat-infested rom is the main thing responsible for the lagginess and performance issues

all the bloatware and lack of performance optimization is what causes so many issues with stock WM devices

Custom rom is the way to go

I respect you not wanting to change your stock rom. (you can never tell what kooky glich could happen with a custom build)

BUT you have to think of your phone like a furnished house: you bought the thing and someone's busted ass tables and chairs and crap are laying around your new house. . . you like so of it but hate most of it. you got to move the stuff out and keep only what you want, maybe even get some new stuff. then you will like your new house better....if you keep all the crap that came with it and move in your new stuff its gonna be hard to move around quickly in your new house...

That's my thought about it....it may not be i quick fix but when you get your setup the way you want it.....s@#$ is good!

Thanks for the comparison, it was a good one. So lets say I am thinking af getting a custom ROMnow. I have had a look through a lot of the new ones and many if not all have features that i don't want, such as fonts, backgrounds, icons etc. Is there a ROM out there that is visually similar to the stock TP?? I have had a look without any success

RSTG roms are pretty closed to stock, ive used them and are pretty steady for an everyday use but then again is what u want..youll find them here at Wckediden

Well I think that you want Mighty Rom.....there are also a few quick rom out there that are typically striped down versions of the stock.....coinflipper comes to mind.

sorry i dont have any links....double check PPC Geeks or XDA. Wckediden is the best but sometimes you will find I few goodies there.

Not sure whether I should start another thread but I can't find where to unlock my phone. I am pretty sure I have a GSM so the CDMA unlocker won't work. I am not sure how to tell the difference but another site had the GSM TP as having sharper corners while the CDMA TP's have softer corners and Sprint on the top corner?

How can I be sure that I have a GSM or CDMA. I checked xda developers for a GSM unlocker but couldn't find one, as directed in the CDMA unlocker thread

I have a GSM alright. Followed steps in the XDA thread and used Dash's RSTG ROM. Now my TP has been stuck on the Touch Pro Splash screen for half hour. This happened during step 4 of section 4 of the XDA thread, or just before you are supposed to hard reset after i installed the ROM.

Is my phone f****d??

well you have to use gsm roms not cdma roms like we have here..... it tells you what it will work for in the psot like sprint verizon etc....... you need to get a gsm rom from xda....

try to flash a gsm rom over to it and see what it does.... hard to tell until it is all done...... its booting so thats a good sign at least that it isnt completely bricked.

But I can't connect it to the computer cos it stays on the intial touch pro splash screen.... Computer can't recognise it

place the phone into manual bootloader and make sure the screen says usb on it than you will connect even though it wont look like it....... (just cant say serial) to get into manual bootloader all you have to do is press and hold the power/vol down/ and soft reset at the same time.....

Thanks Dash, have it in manual bootloader now. Thanks for staying with me. Will repost with my results. Do you know of any XDA ROM's that re similar to your RSTG ROM but for a GSM phone?

dont follow the gsm game sicne i dont have a fuze.... (woudl if i could get one donated or something) but there are many of them over there to choose from..... jsut read some of the reviews n the last page of the threads and you will see what people think of them.... than wehn you are done be sure to come back over to us and get all your goodies and apps :)

Haha don't you worry Dash, providing my phone isn't rooted I will be getting a ROM from XDA then coming back here for everything else. And of course help out where I can...

hahaha word bro and let us know how it goes for you..... and if you ever get a dirty numbered fuze or anythign or claim yours as lost i will gladly pay the 50 bucks to have you send that one to me and get you a new one so i can mess with gsm too :)

Thanks mate, parts of teh XDA website seems to be down so I can't do much at the moment. Will report back when I can do something. The phone is yours as soon as I don't need it

Bad news sorry Dash, your advice allowed me to unscrew my phone. If you weren't so helpful you would have a phone being posted to you right now :P

Managed to fix it up and put a custom ROM from XDA in and now I have moved to the dark side (ie: threw out my custom ROM) I am very hapopy with what I have. Thanks to all who helped me discover a new side of the TP

Haha...welcome to the "Dark Side" bro......enjoy! Few words of advise..use the SEARCH feature to find what your looking for on the site, and if it doesn't come up, search again using different words. I can promise most of what you will ask has already been solved or found and asked before on here so good luck with that. Always remember....Wckediden is hands down the best site ever....don't get it twisted!! Lots of look-a-likes and wanna-b's out there. Another thing is that you mentioned Roms that are like the Sprint stock Rom, keep in mind that if you just like the looks of the sprint "stock" Rom there are many themes out there to give you that stock look on whatever Rom you choose...the best of both worlds for someone like yourself that likes the stock feel. Well happy huntings my friend, Search, Read, Read, and then.......READ some more!!! haha peace bro
