Screen wont work
 

I have the ATR 3 rom, S2U2, and a few games and stuff. Lately my screen started freezing up, and then yesterday, it completely shut off. If I hit the power button, the screen will light up, but will be all black. Sometimes, when I have an incoming phone call, it will turn back on long enough to let me answer, but as soon as I answer, it'll freeze up again.

Is there any way I can fix this? Any help is appreciated. I'm about ready to take it back to sprint to get a new one, but I'm kinda nervous since I have the custom rom and everything on it.

It is easy to change your ROM back to stock. I am sure someone here can help you out but first try searching for it. I have a GSM ROM so not exactly sure how to flash it back to stock for a new handset

Thanks for the quick response. I managed to reload the ROM, and it seems to be working for now.

I tried searching for the stock srint ROM, but I couldn't find it. Can anyone help me out?

Ok, so that lasted for about 10 minutes. Now its back to being broken.

Here u go bro ,u dont have to go go back to stock bro if i were u id put the phone in bootloader mode and flash to the same rom or another u probably just had a bad download or didnt take out the battery and did a hard reset after the flash?Id go back to stock and return it if it keeps acting up after ur new flash.

my question is why was hard reset never told? thats where you start before flashing again..... but if a hard reset aka master reset doesnt work you will want to run the unlocker from here [hael+unlocker and than once you do that flash the stocker from here but i feel that the problem is just a hard reset is needed.

Ok, I just redownloaded, and reflashed the ROM. Then did a hard reset with removing the battery. It worked fine until the screen turned off. Then when it turned back on, everything was in black white for a few seconds then faded away to black and it won't show anything else. I'm gonna try flashing back to stock and see if that does anything.

cool let us know what stock does for you and if it stilll odes it bring it and and get replaced since it will be a defect.

You going to have to take it in for repair! I had the same problem got worst over time. They replaced the whole screen with a brand new one so half my phone is old and half my phone is new :P

I have been reading a lot of people having this problem(screen going haywire/black light only shining) here and on ppcgeeks, seems pretty common now.

Flashed back to stock. It worked perfect for about 10 minutes, except the slide out keyboard didn't work, but then back to the same thing. So I guess I'm gonna relock it and take it in tomorrow.

So they don't give you an all new phone? That's weird.

depends how long ago you got it. If you got it less than 30 days ago from Sprint they will just give you another new one. If you got it over 30 days ago and less than a year ago then they will service it for free, if they can't fix it they will replace it all for free. If you bought it over a year ago they and you have TEP they will fix it or replace it for free, if you bought it over a year ago and dont have tep it will be 119 in a repair center for fix or replace. :) good luck!

word its a manufacturer defect than..... you have tep right or insurance through your provider right? if so they wont give you any troubles

Ok, so I got my new phone from sprint, and I'm getting ready to send the old one back. I just want to make sure everything is good to go with it.

I reflashed the stock ROM and used the relocker. This is what it says in the bootloader screen:

Security Unlocked
RAPH800
SPL-0.37.0000
MicroP-Hermann (LED) v0C85
MicroP-Hermann (KEY) v0C85
PSOC-Raph STAGE_EVT v20

I just wanted to check because its different than I remember seeing back before I started flashing ROMs to it and stuff.

One more thing, this whole thing was just a defect from the factory, right? It doesn't happen very often when installing custom ROM's? This just got me a little nervous to go custom again.

you will be fine with just the stock rom no need to really relock and with that writeout you are still unlcoked idf im not mistaking.
