Battery Fix

I found this over at ppcgeeks guys changing this in ur registry suppose to give u more batttery life .I did this last nite and found out that this does indeed work on my pro and may work on urs as well !

Dear Chefs/Users,

I wanted to share with you, what I believe to be the source to the better battery life on my 2.4.X Roms.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Battery]
"PollInterval"=dword:4E20

I've shared the fix with Ghetto, and he has confirmed, and will likely incorporate the reg into future iterations of the kitchen.

Original credit goes to DCD (XDA) as I noticed this was a registry from his old Titan Kitchen.

-Juicy

Here is something else someone found on another site :

Here's something everyone can use to make registry changes easier:
Code:

http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/
Download and install this program, it runs on your computer. Just connect using activesync and it will read the registry from your phone and allow you to make edits from your computer itself. I make so many reg edits that it's a pain to do it all from the phone.

Pro Tip: Make sure you go to Tools - Unlock Registry first so it will allow you to commit changes to your phone.

Also, you can save favorites and make cabs from reg entries etc, this editor is pretty nice.

Btw if you change the 5000 to 20000 and not do anything else, that'll be just fine. There's no need to change it Hex 4E20 explicitly, it's the same thing.

================================================== ===

additional info to battery life.I will make changes and report back with my results

Battery Life

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Battery
Default value and type are
"PollInterval"=dword:5000
Change to
"PollInterval"=dword:20000

*** you will need a registry editor such as PHM, Total Commander, Resco, etc. to do the edits. Once edits are done wait for 1 minute before you soft-reset to ensure those edits have been implemented into the configuration***

Re: Battery Fix

i put this on my Pro just now. I have NFSFAN's 0105 rom and it's a battery hog for sure. i'm hoping this will help dramatically. the setting was at 5000 Dec orginally and this brought it to 20000. which should make one heck of a difference. the number suggests that it will poll 4 times less. we'll see.

thanks for the info guys.

right but you will never get 4 times longer battery life... it is a battery hahaha but hell better battery life is always welcome in my books no matter how small a difference.

i think many of the roms are using a setting of 5000 dec. it would seem that setting the polling to 2000 would not do well at all for battery life.

give me a sec i'll let you know in a min... but from a few texts and some bus time checks online and a few calls... it went to 90% and it's 1140 now...

--------- New Post Merged on 10/8/2009 at 02:50:23 --------

nope stayed the same...!!!.... all i did was before i changed my rom i formated my internal memory on my diamond which erased all internal... then got rid of a bunch of junk that i didn't use... and hard reseted everything.. so i started from scratch..(backed everything on my hard drive) then i flashed to energy rom like 4 times and before the 1st soft reset (when the load of apps and stuff) i took battery out for 10 sec.... then i let it load up all stuff then i did that like twice.. then i hard reseted like 3 times each flash... (i heard it helped but i still get bugs) then i reloaded all my info and set up my cabs and completed every soft reset when asked.. then i just started slow and not adding apps that i really didn't need... changed a few things.. and then wha laa... i did this and i'm impressed... well hopefully this works out for others...

--------- New Post Merged on 10/8/2009 at 02:54:10 --------

yeah i did a crap load of work but yeah it was worth it... had a lot of time on my hands and i really like to see that rainbow on my screen for some reason i feel like im a comp genius for those 3 seconds... lol...

its now 1030 and now i'm at 30 percent but i havent touched it since 8... i was listening to music on the way over to my girls so like 1hr.. and was checking time a few times and changed songs.. Made 1hr call and 200 texts today so far... and i'm still good 15+ hrs on a full battery... will let go untill it dies so will let you guys know how it goes tommorow... my day off tommorow so no biggie if it dies ;)... THIS DOES WORK I"M GONNA HAVE TO ADMIT... once again i'm using energyrom for diamond.... only made to changes to regedit... and am golden... thanks for the info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Battery Fix

Thats pretty amazing that just changing a setting in the regedit can make such a difference. Is it normal though that non-stock roms drain the battery more? I send/receive maybe 50 texts a day, browse internet, talk for maybe half an hour a day, have a couple of email accounts checked every hour as well as playing games and mine lasts about 30hours. I dont use the phone for music and video so much though, which might be where the difference lies.

30 hours? dont you talk or text any? and custom roms for me have always given me better battery life.

Re: Battery Fix

Yeah, Im generally calling and texting quite a lot (for me maybe), but I always get pissed off that I have to charge it every night, otherwise it will be dead by 4pm the next day. I have friends who use their phones roughly as much and they can go almost 5 days on one charge. Granted they are **** phones, but still.

--------- New Post Merged on 11/8/2009 at 06:59:48 --------

And Teeter and browsing on your phone was designed to be done on the john. My girlfriend finds it really weird that I can spend half an hour in there!

be careful.uninstall the cab first.So it can go back to default settings after the reboot.Then apply the new settings

Re: Battery Fix

Ok, I was keeping a note of what I was doing yesterday and this is how it worked out in the end.
Removed from charger just before 8.30 am.
almost an hour on IM
1.5 hours phone
>1 using opera browser
only 20 texts
played around with the facebook app
2 email accounts checked every 2 hours
a couple of installed cabs
and 2 hard resets, numerous soft resets (phone's got issues)
no wi-fi

The phone was hooked up to active sync for about half an hour though and I'm in the country so I'm only using the slowest radio rather than HSDPA, which prob makes the difference. At 2.30 am, the phone was still reporting back 20%. That's 18 hours. My reckoning is that it got a decent charge when I synced it and the radio was less draining.
