Marathon is a Windows Mobile application which keeps track of your movement with the help of a GPS-receiver. Its the perfect companion for sporting activates such as running, skiing or ice skating.

You can configure Marathon to announce various statistics in the headset or speaker while youre recording. This gives you the advantage of always knowing your performance and is a great morale boost to reach your goals.

You can compete with yourself by setting the goal time comparation settings to one of your previous results. This will allow the announcements to tell you exactly how many seconds ahead or behind you are. You may also use the generic time goal in case you havent recorded anything to compete against.

The application records and displays data such as time, distance, speed and your altitude change. You can also choose to display your speed and altitude as bar or line charts, as well as showing a map of your recording.

As a complement to the application you can upload your results to this website, which allows you to see more detailed information about your performance, as well as various rankings against other users of the service.

Marathon requires a Windows Mobile 5.0+ Professional device with a GPS receiver and a screen resolution of at least 240x240 pixels.

Info:

Changelog:

1.0.0.5 Beta
Changed so the altitude diagrams show total altitude, instead of altitude gained.
Added an "Enable all/Disable all" button on the announcement form.
Added support for devices which didn't provide a valid Position DOP.
Added support for devices which didn't send out both sea level and ellipsoid altitude.
Added support for devices which didn't send out device status.
Added an option to export a result to KML (Keyhole Markup Language, used by Google Maps / Google Earth etc.).
1.0.0.4 Beta
Fixed a bug which caused the altitude to stay at zero when an old result was opened.
The comment box in the upload form now have the same size regardless of screen resolution.
Added an option to increase the privacy of the uploaded result.

if you would be kind enough to let us know how it works for you that would be great... but expect some bugs since it is the initial release of this application

I've been stuck in the office, but I need to give it a test myself. It appears to be very clean and simple, so we shall see. As Dash stated, feedback would be great :) Thanks.

Re: Marathon v1000 Beta (Freeware)

Well I tried to run the app and got an error message Marathon.exe Missing Method Exception This app requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device. I'm figuring this is not a problem with the app but my phone. I just got it today. Anyone know anything about the Tmo TP2 and its Compact Framework?

Sorry couldn't edit. Or maybe where to look to learn myself.

Re: Marathon v1000 Beta (Freeware)

I ran today with this app running on my phone. I think it worked very well it ran smoothly on my TP2. The app showed right at 3 miles. I tracked my run with mapmyrun.com and it was at 3.2. 0.2 mile is not that far off and I can't honesty say which one was correct. Sense both of them were that close I will continue to use this app. I don't have to remember where I ran so I can track it later on that website. On top of that it shows stats that you can only get with GPS tracking. Recommended to any runner that doesn't mind running with a bulky WinMo phone.

Great feedback Mike. Hey, you have your phone in case of emergency, you have a physical fitness monitor at hand, flashlight if you're running at night, etc :) They need to design some bluetooth attachments to get your heart rate. That would be nice.
