My had a major house fire yesterday and and my family is displaced into a hotel for awhile. I have lots of extended family trying to reach me via phone and text, but I'm having a problem....this is where you guys come in.....

My phone magically won't charge. My OEM charger burnt up in the fire, so I bought a off-brand one from the sprint kiosk in the mall....no luck. Thought maybe the phone got so low, that the battery tricked itself into thinking it had a memory of ZERO. Went to the sprint store to buy a new battery....lucked out and they gave me a new one for FREE!!!! Came back to the hotel, and it had a 70% charge....but has been decreasing and NOT charging.

The ONLY thing that has changed, is I lost my stylus in the chaos of the fire. This will make you laugh, but I ran out of my house at 2 AM....in my boxers....carrying my daughter, my car keys....and you guessed it.....my phone.

Help guys (and girls).....I really need my phone to keep contact with my family and friends!!!!!!

just an idea, but i had that problem before, and i had to hard reset. some roms also had that issue, for me at least, so try hard resetting okay. just dont forget to back up your info!

first of all im sorry ot hear about your house fire... i had one on my 15th b-day and having my room in the basement i was the inly one to loose everything but the clothes on my back. thankfully i had gracious friends that gave me clothes until i could go to the store and get some... but anyways do you have any sort of micro usb cord for your computer from a camera or anything? you could always charge from a computer downstairs at the hotel or ask if you could plug into theirs for a charge. i wish mail would get their sooner since i would mail you one

Thanks for the ideas guys. Unfortunately the battery was fully discharged by the time I read the response. Back in the office this morning and plugged the USB in....and ITS CHARGING!!! I've got one battery charged and charging up the 2nd battery now.

Still odd how it suddenly won't charge from the charger, but it will via USB. I'm running GOKU's ROM currently, you think that could be part of the issue? Is it the fact the the chargers aren't OEM?

Like you D/\SH, I'm very lucky to have very gracious family and friends....and strangers! We've had a complete outpouring of support from TONS of people that we don't even know, its completely amazing. We basically lost everything, 95% of the stuff in the house isn't salvagable so all the support we are getting is very much appreciated. Oddly, my garage was pretty much untouched.....so that means my kegerator is safe :)

glad that you got them charged up and i dont feel it is the rom sicne i ran that rom for a while and never had any issues, i feel it is the aftermarket third party chargers that arent giving it the charge... (are both corners angled or just one? you need just one for your device) and hell yeah at least the kegerator is ok!! we have a detached so not too big of a deal. we had the same outpour from people we didnt know making us feasts to feed 20 each and every day and bringing it to the hotel we were at for some time...... they also brought clothes, toys, music, school stuff, etc for me too.... the outpour from the public really helped our family through that year we were out of the house (foundation problems and all supports plus floors had to be redone) it really makes you feel good to see that peopel still do help each other out.

The aftermarket chargers that I've tried all have the USB type end.

I tried my buddy's charger from his MyTouch3G and it charged just fine. But none of the aftermarket chargers with the USB type end work. BUT THEY WORKED BEFORE.....this is weird.

Wow... Im sorry to hear about the fire man.... thats horrible, but Im glad to hear you and your family made it out physically safe... everything else you can tget back... but you lives and health are most important...

regarding your issue... at 1st it sounded like a physical hardware issue, but seeing as it will charge via usb to comp... so Im geussing your charger was damaged and the after market one you bought was probably poor quality... see if you can test using one of your friend Blackberry charger to see if it'll work. If i does its just poor quality chargers ur using... if it doesnt... you might have a problem w/ the pins in your phone... where they are acting real tempermental... hopefully not, because if thats the case.... you may have to look into gettin it repaired or replace... but if its working via usb to pc... at least you have a work around for now.

Yup, tried a blackberry charger too.....no go. I'm going to reflash today and see if that makes any difference. I'm guessing not, but will update you later today or tomorrow.

Regarding the possibility of the pins being messed up....the USB cord charges it when hooked up to the computer. Who knows....I'll reflash and see if that helps at all.

First of glad that you and family made out safe that what really counts...material things can be replace...i really reccomend using a motorola razor charger works really good on my pro...just a suggestion i know you cant be buying alot of chargers, maybe a freinds or something really hope it works for you..best wishes and prayers

So, I've reflashed and no go. Another thing, the phone won't connect via USB. It will charge, but not connect to PC.....WEIRD??? I can connect via bluetooth, just not USB.
