Samsung could reportedly increase Galaxy S26 price next month
 

RAMageddon is affecting almost all consumer electronics devices, and memory chip prices have gotten so out of hand that Samsung is reportedly considering increasing the prices of all Galaxy S26 series devices next month in its home country.



Hans Economy claims that Samsung is weighing price hikes for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra in South Korea starting October 1, 2026. According to notifications sent to local telecom carriers, all models in the lineup will see a uniform price increase of KRW 149,600 (~$111).



If that happens, the new prices will be as follows:

• Galaxy S26: KRW 1,254,000 (~$934) → KRW 1,403,600 (~$1,046)
  
• Galaxy S26+: KRW 1,452,000 (~$1,082) → KRW 1,601,600 (~$1,194)
  
• Galaxy S26 Ultra: KRW 1,797,400 (~$1,340) → KRW 1,947,000 (~$1,451)

This move follows Apple's recent strategy of bumping up prices for its latest iPhones compared to their predecessors, alongside price hikes for existing iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches.



Distribution networks and retailers are concerned that raising prices in a sluggish economy will further dampen smartphone sales, as consumers hesitate to upgrade to newer devices and hold onto older phones for a little longer. Used phone market is also set to improve due to this factor.
