Default Issue wity choppy video

I was curious if anyone has experienced choppy video on the Touch, and if so, what did you do to resolve it? I tried putting a few episodes of The Office on it, and they play very choppy, as if the refresh rate is very poor. I've encoded in both .wmv and .avi, I've ranged the audio from 96 to 192 in mp3, and I've tried both syncing it with Windows Media Player and just dragging and dropping it into the storage card. I've also tried increasing and decreasing the bitrate of the video file. The resolution is of course 320 x 240. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm not doing anything different than when I encoded and put videos on my 6700, and they played fine on that device. Any suggestions.
