If your GPS works, but your gettting mixed results for the GPS Lock, then I came across a few fixes/tweaks, they work for me. These may or may not work for you; so browse the forum links and read for yourself the results others are having then try it out.
1. Enable aGPS Mode:

2. Some other registry tweak, seems to have worked, but can't really tell the actual effect of it.

3. Use a today-plugin called 'GPSToday' currently in v. 0.95. Personally I love this program and it's a great 'primer' and locks on quite well. I'm getting great results with these.

Again, I can't really tell you the effect of each individual tweak/fix, I've done/added all 3 to my device and im getting a lot better results.
