Keep in mind that all I want is the ability to check my email through my phone, and perhaps (if it's possible) to be notified through a text message if an email from a particular person has been received. I do not want the messages to be erased from the server because I want to be able to download them to my desktop and have my desktop remove them from the server. Again, I don't want to have my desktop's email synced to my device. I use Incredimail as my email client, not Microsoft Outlook.
I know I can just use Internet Explorer to check my email, but a better way has to exist. I came across the following program that supposedly acts an email client. I think it's called Morange, and claims to be free. Anyone recommend it?

make sure you know the incoming and outgoing mail servers prior to setting up outlook, Open Messaging on the phone. go to menu then new account. Setup you email there. if it cannot automatically detect the incoming and outgoing servers then you will need to manually input them in. If not. Call you provider (sprint, att, etc.) and they will help you over the phone to configure it!
