This is my first time flashing a custom rom and Kaos's take 3 looks real good. I read Dash's instructions and researched all the programs needed only to be told that i don't have permisssion to access the page to get the tools i need. Click the Help Desk link on the toolbar at the top and select Join Groups. Register for Member Software. It'll take them a day or so (maybe less) to get you added, but you'll then be able to download the stuff you need.
And no, there are tons of custom roms around (not to mention tools to help you build you own, but you should probably save that till you're more familiar). Kaos just happens to put out damn good roms that are favored quite highly around here.
